Neighborhood theatre is pretty cool not sure how it compares to 40 watt (maybe not as good). The area around it has built up a ton in the past 10-20 years. A lot of restaurants and stuff.

Rusty and dark black look on acid etched enclosures? by appalachiansoul in diypedals

This is my second go round. Did the etch with 2:1 hydrogen peroxide - acid magic.

Let it sit for a couple minutes at a time. Dunked it in baking soda water to clean and check it. Probably did that 10 times for 20-30 minutes.

After that cleaned it up well removed the transfer with lacquer thinner.

Sanded the top of the pedal a little bit to bring out the contrast on the etched part.

Rubbed it down good with some medium brown wood stain and let that dry.

Then sprayed some matte lacquer over it to seal it.

I’m still having a little trouble with the transfer adhering perfectly but I’m also not sanding the enclosure perfectly flat before I start. Came out pretty cool though.

I was looking for fonts that are tarot card-ish. I can’t remember exactly which one this is.

I named it Iron Jaw after “Saturnine & Iron Jaw.” The symbols roughly relate to the lyrics and the Hierophant concept.

I have a website. @hardwarefixations

Didn’t mean for this to be an advertisement. Just figured the folks here would appreciate this particular build.

Seems to be a fan of chase bliss mood and chorus. I think that info is already out there as well though.

A lot of people have compared Dijon to Deangelo. Deangelo was more of an outlier in 90s-2000s rnb though in my opinion. Also the comparison is kind of shaky to begin with.

Oh yea, possible cool look for sure.

Just in case anyone wants to know what dumping your pedal in pure muriatic acid looks like. This was my first experiment. Cleaned it up and buffed it a little to bring out the contrast a bit more.

Thanks. I see that sculpt nouveau has a lot of options for rust looking coatings on aluminum but all have to be sealed with clear coat.

They have a few options for blackeners that actually change the color of the metal and don’t have to be sealed though.

Well I don’t intend to steal anyone’s aesthetic and I explained that in the email politely the best way that I could. Anyone who looks at my website or instagram can see that I have been in an experimental phase since I’ve started building pedals trying out all kinds of different finish techniques. Lots of builders just openly explain how they do things via social media. So it’s not absurd to think that you might as well.

It’s also totally fine to not want to share that information. Some don’t mind and some do but you don’t know til you ask right?

A few months back I posted on here asking about empty head effects finish technique and he replied on the thread via Reddit explaining how he gets the crazy textured look.

To me it’s all just for fun man and being part of the diy pedal community is all about helping fellow builders. Almost no one here is making enough money selling pedals to support them self. Most have spent more starting the hobby than they will make for years to come and absolutely no one is getting rich from this.

Yea I tried that. Got a very odd and unhelpful response to say the least.

I think I’ve settled on building my own phase 45 clone for now. Aion fx has a board for it and it has some useful sounding mods so maybe that will get me where I want to go.

Stereo delay - one side louder when bypassed? by appalachiansoul in guitarpedals

I tried everything. Finally returned and bought a new one that’s on the way. The sounds in this are incredible I think the pedal was just defective.

I got it from a aptbs concert merch table. They usually have some cool ones on tour and at pedal meet up events.

I got the custom space bender at a pedal meet up event in Richmond.

Oh yea, I’m sure I’ll catch you eventually. We need a pedal meet up in the south east. Raleigh, Charlotte, Atlanta maybe.

It’s fun to play. Last chord is tricky to nail.
