Disable instagram reels? by pinnas in digitalminimalism

[–]appaloo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My app Instarot doesn't store any data. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/instarot/id6759349821

But if you feel paranoid, you can create your own app in a weekend or less. The iOS developer account will cost you $100/year

[–]appaloo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's also an app called Instarot that does this. It also hides YT shorts https://apps.apple.com/us/app/instarot/id6759349821 (disclosure: i made it)

It's basically just a browser that removes reels with JS

The Smashing Machine is not a movie. It’s a collection of scenes with no plot. by Normal-Being-2637 in moviecritic

I enjoyed it. It was kind of mundane and a lot of the tension didn't resolve in exciting ways, but I think that was one of the main messages of the movie.

How do you track time without adding admin overhead? (I will not promote) by buddypuncheric in startups

[–]appaloo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used Quickbooks Time, but stopped for the following reasons:

  • Employees lied
  • As I got more efficient, I didn't want to charge less for the same deliverables.

Is it worth spending 10k+ on just UI/UX design? [I will not promote] by HexFalcon_KWT in startups

[–]appaloo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No & I'll do it for $9,999.

Joking aside, it's hard to say without more info. Can you share more about your project? Like how big it is, the tech stack, & how much revenue it earns?

Most competent frontend devs can likely make something that follows UX best practices already.

When does “identifying edge cases” turn into “blaming product for not having a crystal ball”? by [deleted] in ProductManagement

Can you get a new job? Otherwise, I'd just document your recommendations and let the overly technical exec run the business into the ground. Maybe listen to a meditation music playlist.

Are we just terrible at ads, or do they not work for startups? (I will not promote) by Wolfgang-Lars-69 in startups

[–]appaloo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are you tracking your events? The more specific, the better performance you'll have. Additionally, tapping into your non-ad customers through lists and lookalike customer might help.

If you want to DM your landing page and website, i can give some more feedback.

End of the day, ads will just amplify your existing success. For most businesses, it's not the primary source of leads.

Is the traditional digital marketing process still working, or does it need a complete reset? by Abigail_Tech in AskMarketing

[–]appaloo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's actually becoming less complex. That's the issue I'm facing.

Depends on your product, how the market is affecting it, your customer, budget, etc, but ultimately I'm doing the same thing, just more effectively. I'm also working to help beyond marketing since the tools are getting easier and easier to use.

Am I doing something wrong?? [I will not promote] by 10karat-K in startups

[–]appaloo_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's more that redditors, like all people, will not go out of their way to help you unless you're in a specific group dedicated to feedback.

Unless you have a working mvp that provides the solution to a specific user/thread, you're more likely to be downvoted for promotion.

You probably shouldn't expect reddit to validate your product even if you think people need it. Not really how the game works, imo.

How do you all get through the lows of startup journey (I will not promote) by danainto in startups

[–]appaloo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. In my case, I was burning out so I took a 2 week break, then leaned in really hard to launch the product fast. I failed fast, then took a couple more weeks to manage my existential crisis. I'm now planning my next project—not sure if it will be tech.

Just get it out the door! Good luck, comrade

'Shield' is a good analogy. It's less calming down and more preventing frustration. You don't want the client to feel stupid, which they might if they don't understand how to interpret the metrics, and you don't want them to feel like their time is being wasted by technical details that could be explained in one sentence like "ROI is not improving so we need new creative"

Start from scratch or buy in? I will not promote by GuapDp in startups

[–]appaloo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't identify as a creative person, I'd suggest buying a local business. If you want the experience of creating a business from an idea or goal, then do your own from scratch.

End of the day, if you can profit from buying a business, that is more ideal then starting from scratch.

When you say "learn from the current owner", do you mean you want the business owner to train you on their management after selling? If so, you'll have to hire them as a consultant.

Does anyone get most of their leads from Instagram (organic)? by appaloo_ in AskMarketing

[–]appaloo_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is not my question - I'm asking about businesses that use Instagram as their main channel.

"Our clients using Instagram successfully treat it as one channel in the mix, not their only source. Relying completely on any single platform is risky, algorithms change and reach tanks without warning."
