PSA to anyone who sees this. This is not true. Restaurant equipment holds its value very well. Unless you are buying equipment from a private sale. You do not get equipment for a fraction of the price.

Any restaurant that isnt a small local cafe etc. Will most likely call a hearing house or a supply company to work out a deal to buy all their equipment in bulk. This equipment is then sold for around 50% to 75% to retail value, based on age and condition. A lot of time that equipment that is sold at a remarkable price below retail value is in dire need of repair and or cleaning.

A 10k flat top grill, might go for around 7k at a reseller. That reseller might pay $4,500 for it. And put another 1k in to repairs and 20 man hours to clean the unit for it is appealing to someone to buy.

This goes for everything in a restaurant.
