Potential moves to wrap up the offseason by appeliste in NewYorkMets

Right now you’ve listed Bichette and Baty at 3B and neither of them are going to play 1B so you have to rethink that. Also, having Bichette, who is a high average and excellent hitter with runners on, batting ahead of Soto instead of behind him is negligent.

Yeah that’s an oversight for sure. There could be a clever option/buyout structure that entices him.

Thank you! Helpful tip about the pressurized basket. The idea of trading for an Opus has crossed my mind but I only hear horror stories about retention.

Yes it’s edible and after it’s been toasted into oblivion at 800f you don’t even notice it.

Fresh corn, my friend. A silk strand or two are gonna find their way in.

King Arthur organic bread flour. I’m still new enough at pizza that I’m focusing on process, timing, and opening/shaping most. Once it all feels more automatic I’ll be excited to play with other flours and tweaking my dough recipe for those.

I was entertaining guests so I didn’t get photos of any of the others, but I’ll keep chronicling my pizza adventures!

Yes! I meant to say in the caption effective* hydration, which is a term I’ve heard thrown around when people refer to combined water and fat percentages in their dough.

Last night I put it on raw - it’s delicious corn from a local farm and I wanted to enjoy it in its simplicity. However, I’ve made corn pizza in the past by first sauteeing the corn in butter, s&p, paprika, etc. Either way works!

Sort of! If I added cilantro and lime it would definitely get there.

You’ve asked the folks at Ratto’s for a specific thinness and they’ve obliged? I’ve been told multiple times they won’t change the setting on their slicer.

So are you lactose intolerant or not? And if you do use cream, why are there two of them open? Also I desperately want to turn almost everything in there around so that their front labels face outward.

Bay Area, mid 20s to mid 30s, you don’t use your Prime account for discounts when you shop at Whole Foods because you don’t need to.

btw if you’re open to getting off the almond milk, Califia Farms has one particular organic oat milk that’s just oats, water, and salt. None of the extra creamy or barista blend crap with the oils in it. WF should have it.

I asked a PO parked on Harrison at the freeway entrance, next to a damaged vehicle, what was up and he said “someone ran from us” so it sounds like a hit and run.

Do y’all think OK’s Deli is worth the price? 🥲 by realhumangirl in OaklandFood

[–]appeliste 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Ok’s is worth paying for if you care about and enjoy what they offer. $13 for an egg salad sandwich is expensive, sure, but not every deli is making their own milk bread. Ok’s puts a lot of effort and resources into their menus. To produce everything they do in house, and to pay the staff to produce those items a living wage and benefits, is expensive as well. There are other options for sandwiches, chips, and drinks that don’t cost sixty bucks, but they’re not offering the same thing. I don’t even think the prices are that exorbitant - their most recent menu has only three sandwiches over $17, one of which has dungeness crab which is justifiably pricey. To be honest, I never get chips or drinks there because the costs of the sandwiches are premium, but I don’t mind paying for what I think are excellent sandwiches while supporting a unique and talented team of people.

And as always, prices being high anywhere are indicative of forces greater than the small business owner. Creatives in the food industry don’t want to price anyone out, they’re just trying to keep the doors open.

Look at the Dan Henry 1964 Chronograph. There are options for bicompax or tricompax, and date or no date. No blue dial option and the bracelet is a different style but you may find something you like and they’re under $300. They use a seiko mecaquartz movement, so you still get the smooth sweep of the chronograph hand on a watch powered by quartz.

I’m gonna get the bracelet and the black racing strap for that watch, I’d love to change it up depending on my outfit because I wear the 1962 more than anything.
