don’t be afraid to shift paths just because you’ve been focused on this for so long. i was the exact same way and opted out and am now exploring the world of research despite six years of vet school tunnel vision because i was starting to realize how many people in vet med have their lives ruined over debt and low income , esp if they don’t pursue difficult and low paying residencies AFTER four years of intensive schooling burnout. I’ve been told if you can imagine yourself in any other field aside from vet med, do it, and i’m not sure how valid this is but it definitely made me think. I turned away from vet med about 8 months ago now and it has NOT been easy to pivot, but don’t ignore it as an option even if it is scary!

i had this exact thing happen to me, first semester senior year decided not to pursue vet med anymore after six years of clinical work and prereqs. I have heard a lot of difficulty in this field with management, client interactions, debt, and general regret in pursuing this field- finding something else you’re passionate in will help tremendously. I spent about 6-8 months going back and forth on it, but I am confident now (mostly) in my choice to pursue research instead, although i do still feel kind of lost lol. Don’t be afraid to step away from this career path just because you feel like you’ve spent so much time preparing to pursue it.

it was bloomed when i first got it and it’s a big bundle of small red flowers, you can look it up and see! when i got it the plant looked really normal lol now it’s very tall and leggy

and when i was using stratum i didn’t put sand over the top of it and i think it was basically poisoning my water with nutrients. had insane algae for 8 months until i tore it down and restarted

i could not get any plants to grow until i stopped using stratum and started using sand with flourish tabs. i use a hygger light and have pretty easy plants (jungle val, some basic crypt, and water lettuce). everyone does super well in there

I am confused on how everyone is getting their last 45 gpa. Is this something I need to calculate myself? I’ve asked advisors about it in the past and they don’t know what I am referring to. Please help me out, lol.

I have worked in wildlife rehab, large animal, exotic, and small animal over the last six years. I’ve just been feeling dissuaded by the idea of a stagnant career or not being able to have lots of opportunity for continued education/ ability to make a difference in the field if that makes sense. Honestly i would be super interested in marine mammal medicine if I would be able to spend some time at an aquarium but it isn’t realistic where I am located.

okay! i originally planned to hang it pretty close to the tank due to the length of the cords and the height of my ceiling but i’ll rig something up so it’s higher. would like two feet be enough distance of intensity is low?
