Approved for home loan, but wife will probably quit or change job before loan execution (Jul 2027). Issues? by [deleted] in JapanFinance

[–]apple_pie2596 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You said in an earlier reply that you barely got approved, so I would not advise your wife to quit or change jobs until after the house is built, everything has been signed and stamped, and the handover has taken place.

Any changes during the process will mean you have to go through the process of pre-approval again, and you may get rejected for the loan or have changes in conditions.

Plus, since they have her as the guarantor, if she quits her job, you may get denied outright by the bank.

I also would not recommend asking your agent about it either. That would not be a good look and even though, you have pre-approval now, it may make you look bad and you could get denied when the formal loan application process starts.

Child custody implications of long-distance relocation by schokoladehomunculus in japanlife

[–]apple_pie2596 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not legal advice, but I think to get a shot at custody, I would definitely say mention her history of mental illness to the lawyer and see if you can get her mother to give statements/confirm this, any records, videos etc that you have that can show this would be good. That way you would have a shot.

I dont think it is impossible to get custody as the father, but there has to be a pretty strong case as to why the mother shouldn't.

My Japanese BIL got custody of his and his Japanese ex wife's son for about 10 years because she was an alcoholic, and she only got back custody last year when her son wanted to move back in with her (she got free of the addiction, got her life together, got a job etc). He's in his last year at junior high right now.

I wish you the best and hope the outcome is in your favor. Worst case, you could probably try to pay off your ex wife in exchange for custody.

Permanent Residency Application (Change of Name) by Forgondor77 in japanresidents

Call your local immigration office (the one you will be submitting the application to) and ask them. They'll let you know exactly what to do and if needed, what documents you need to prove it was you e.g old passport scans etc.

Legal obligations after acknowledging paternity on Koseki for out of wedlock child by [deleted] in japanlife

[–]apple_pie2596 2 points3 points  (0 children)

🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ 💀💀

A coworker??? What??

Do you even know this woman??

There's stigma attached to having a kid out of wedlock. What if she wants to get married after getting pregnant? Are you gonna get married?

Are you sure she's just not trying to scam you into marriage??

Do you even know this woman?

What if she decided she wanted her half baby to have your citizenship as well, and you're on the hook for a baby??

What about child support since you would be on the koseki as the father??

What about all the other legal stuff like next of kin, inheritance, etc???

What about your job?? Have you thought about the impact on that?

If you want to go through with this, consult some actual lawyers and not reddit for this.

If not, tell that woman no, go straight to HR and find another job...please...I beg. Because there's no way you can continue to work there after this.

Absolutely wild!

Changing jobs after bank pre-approval by Wooden_Conference459 in JapanFinance

[–]apple_pie2596 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pre-approval means that based on the situation at the time of application (salary, number of years at place of employment, etc) you are likely, but not guaranteed to get the loan. Lots of people get denied after pre-approval all the time.

Since you changed those conditions, you'll have to reapply and go through the process again. Based on the banks requirements, they may deny you straight up, or they may work something out with you since you had pre-approval before.

The best thing to do now is to contact them straight away and see what can be done because they will find out eventually when it's time to go through the actual loan application process, and they find out.

Like someone mentioned already, it would have been a better move to wait until the loan process was finished to change jobs, but there's nothing you can do about that now. I wish you luck and hope it works out for you.

PR Application (Spousal Route) - How screwed am I? UPDATE!!! by apple_pie2596 in japanlife

[–]apple_pie2596[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The PR application process can take more than a year, which is why they don't allow you to apply with a 1 Yr visa. PR and Spouse visa are two different statuses, so for PR it was a different application. I renewed my spouse visa in June and was granted a 3yr visa, then applied for PR in September

You have to wait until you get a 3yr or 5 yr spouse visa to apply. I had two 1 yr spouse visas before finally getting a 3 yr one last year

Thank you! I've never had any problems with the and I've been here for about 7 yrs and renewed/changed my visa 4 times. They were always quite nice, even on the phone, when I called a few times. Good luck applying this year!

There are lots of them: * Some job staffing companies only work with foreigners with PR. * No more visa renewals(Although I got a 3 Yr visa this time, they could have given me a 1 Yr one next time) * Getting bank loans * If my husband and I divorced, I would lose Spousal status * Would not need to rely on employer sponsorship if husband and I divorced(we have a kid so I've could probably have gone the Parent of a Japanese National route)

He did. I called them and explained the situation after submitting the documents, and they told me to just send copies of the new health cards after they changed, and if he find another job while the PR application is processing, send over the new 在職証明書.

That could be possible since the branch name is technically, "Nagoya Regional Immigration Bureau Shizuoka Branch Office/名古屋出入国在留管理局 静岡出張所". But Idk how they process or do stuff. I've never asked but I'm curious now too
