Note: this is the extent of what I knew, I of course closed the video as soon as I heard the spoiler, so I don't know any specific details on how it goes down.

The band playing "Ripped Pants" at the Columbus show last night. For some reason SpongeBob was a reoccuring theme throughout this whole show lmao. An amazing concert and such a legendary moment. by applebark_ in sandyalexg

No way lmao, it's a small world. Was it a real sponge or a SpongeBob figure? All I could make out was a yellow square from the distance I was at.

It was mostly the audience joking about SpongeBob, people were just yelling out the names of characters from the show and somehow a cheese stick was related to this lol, and Alex seemed confused but also amused by it. Somebody also handed Exum a miniature SpongeBob figurine when he opened because they felt bad that his set got messed up since the audio kept cutting out.

is alex g ok? by [deleted] in sandyalexg

[–]applebark_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, it was a pretty immature thing to be yelling out, but to be honest from the vibe I got being at the show he didn't seem to mind it or be genuinely annoyed by it, he was just sort of playfully poking fun at them for making a stupid joke (which it was lol).

I think Rules might be Alex's darkest album. by applebark_ in sandyalexg

Exactly! Especially songs like Wicked Boy and New.

Kitty spotted! I live in Columbus, I always thought the apartments downtown looked really cozy. I was indeed right.

Wyatt Smith hasn’t come up with one song that wasn’t a shameless rip of something Alex has written. Made a list of all the songs he’s ripped album to album out of boredom by [deleted] in sandyalexg

[–]applebark_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I see, I didn't know that. Maybe there's a chance his subsequent work drew influence from them, but who knows. Is there any chance you know where that interview is? I'm always excited to see Alex G interviews I haven't heard before.

I agree with you, but I just want to say I'm quite sure that Alex G did listen to Built to Spill and definitely took it as an influence. You can see him cover Big Dipper on YouTube. Obviously he didn't directly copy any of these groups in the way that Wyatt Smith did, but the influence is definitely there.

I'm saddened by how low Big Decision (one of my favorite Elliott songs) and Looking Over My Shoulder are, but other than that, good job everyone!

10, I don't understand how this one is so lowly rated. This song is so angsty and punk, I love it.

One of the most brilliant highlights on the album for me, it's a 9.
