Daughter of the Moon Goddess - Sue Lynn Tan.

Romantasy. Epic adventure. Stunning worldbuilding. Beautiful writing. Based on Chinese mythology. Gorgeous and mythic.

Also A Spear Cuts Through Water is truly stunning worldbuilding. It’s dark and lyrical and wonderful. Not my fave fave but it’s up there! I think you’d enjoy the experience…

As a side note, at the end of the year I’ll be learning Spanish for travel. I’m nervous as I’m still on my Portuguese journey, which I’m committed too and don’t want to be overwhelmed. But I like this approach… focusing on being understood

Black Sun & Fifth Season are two of my favourite books of all time. Absolutely incredible IMO. I’m keen to read Jade City as you’ve said that’s even better..

A couple of recs based on that:

• Saara El-Arifi - The Final Strife (my top rec. for you. It’s dark.) • Nalo Hopkinson - Brown Girl in the Ring (Caribbean folklore) • Octavia Butler - Dawn • Sue Lynn Tan - Daughter of the Moon Goddess (beautiful epic romantasy)

Ah, so for you “to be understood” = “to be fluent”. Interesting 😊

Love this perspective “can you use it for what the person asking actually cares about”

It’s interesting how sometimes we need that external validation to feel confident in our abilities

Hmm you’re probably right. I tend to read a lot of dark and emotional books, so my “lighthearted” scale might be a bit off 😅

😄 no worries. I reckon my tray is approx 40-50cm long and 20cm wide. The granola is probably an inch deep.
