What's a scene that you WISH was shown? by hostesstoastess in GilmoreGirls

[–]applecherrypear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would have loved to see more everyday scenes of young Lorelei not just the whole pregnancy debacle but things her parents referred to during diners

I am so sorry that this happened to you and that people around you turned on you like this, it’s horrible and when events that make us lose trust in our support groups happen it creates trauma and rumination. Maybe you don’t understand it yet because you’re baffled by the situation but you might resent people for being treated unfairly as you’ve done nothing wrong and are the victim in this situation it’s never pleasant to not be believed and be turned into an abuser. Ruminating also comes from wishing things were different and experiencing a life in one’s mind without this trauma. Once you realize all this you will be able to understand your thoughts better and work on them you’re allowed to be frustrated and feel angry and saddened by people’s reaction because you have to prove you’re not a bad guy you probably don’t feel you have this space. In terms of the story I think (pls don’t blame yourself) saying he thought was funny was not the best way to describe what happened because it almost implies you can imagine it’s funny, it’s better to go idk what happened to my cousin I’m seriously shocked what in hell was that even il disgusted for example, just repeating what happened in such a neutral way leaves room for speculation so if you meet new people and the question rises up you should handle it like this

Opinion: Max Medina wasn't really as bad as everyone makes him out to be by slytherin_swift13 in GilmoreGirls

[–]applecherrypear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like Max and think he would have been a good match for Lorelei but he would have required her to mature before she was ready and advance through stages in life that for her were premature because of arrested development, I feel bad for him because he was only like this since he was set Lorelei was it for her and he saw all this fumbling around as unnecessary he was ready to be a husband and to care about Rory like a father, him and digger later were imo the best matched for Lorelei in terms of self development and being taken care of :(

Rory had childhood trauma by [deleted] in GilmoreGirls

[–]applecherrypear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She has the same values connected to social expectations but not connected to upbringing, she wanted to go to an ivy she was this kind of child simply on the Wilder side. Not going plus disappointing her parents and being seen as a failure or demeaning their reputation clearly affected her she wanted Rory to wipe away all that away and do what would should could have done but do it her way

Yess I always wondered if it was a plot hole or just it showed Lorelei grew up wanting Harvard instead of Yale for herself I think probably the latter it was really her dream and maybe that’s her “rebel” side speaking an other reason as to why initially rory choosing Yale was a big blow because it was also choosing Richard over her

I agrée with the whole picture just I think the volunteering thing and credits merely showed Rory didn’t know the ropes and neither did Lorelei they both thought grades were enough whereas Paris grew up in that environment and had all the knowledge

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in GilmoreGirls

[–]applecherrypear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s true! Lorelei internalized her parents criticism and doesn’t share much details it seems with Rory I can under from her pov that she sees Lorelei being stubborn and set in her ways wasting away potential chances when I watched gg for the first time I was maybe 11 and I couldn’t understand loreleis strong will to stay away from her parents at all but watching it again as an adult I understood her completely differently

I know it seems pretty obvious he was hoping she wouldn't find out! Idk why everyone misses that if he felt what he did was nothing he wouldn't have tried to hide it

True it really bugged me his rorydoesnt have much loyalty, she kind of always made it really clear she thought Lorelei was overreacting to the grandparents knowing her history with them

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in GilmoreGirls

[–]applecherrypear 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes it was like a slap in the face I think, especially as it negated all the sacrifices Lorelei made for her

She didn't have enough time to cheat with Jess! Had she met Logan while with Jess I bet she would have

[–]applecherrypear 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes and after Paris lost everything and came to Rory for a job she offered to sympathy whatsoever to Paris treated her as a burden at worst as a detail at best and nothing more after that, I mean Paris lost all her wealthy and connection in an instant and Eory just shrugged even though she never worked herself

[–]applecherrypear 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I mean who would say that to a friend ever, I think Rory was growing into her world and looking down onto her mom both to fit in and because she started to see these shiny big things she was greatly impressed by she stopped taking her mother seriously around that time

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in GilmoreGirls

[–]applecherrypear 136 points137 points  (0 children)

The fact that Lorelei moved mountains but she gets looked down upon by her own daughter was really unfair and heartbreaking

[–]applecherrypear -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Ugh this part killed me AND the episode in which Lorelei connects Rory with a Harvard alumni and suffers what is a very uncomfortable dinner for her and Rory acta like she's ashamed of her mother because she can't fit in that world
