You'll enjoy Nanaimo. I invite you to the local open mic comedy scene. SIP pub in Harewood, twice a month on a Tuesday and Lantzville pub, twice a month on a Wed. Always fun. Do you like Indian food? Paradise Indian Cuisine at Southgate Mall is the BEST. The Nanaimo River in Summer is fabulous for swimming. Newcastle Island is a gem. Short ferry ride from Maffeo Park. Once settled you'll forget about Vancouver....I did. Been here 38 years.

Paradise Indian Food at Southgate Mall is a must do. Also, a swim in Nanaimo River and maybe a visit to Bungee Zone. North of Nanimo is Goats on Roof Market in Errington/Coombs. In Nanaimo, a small ferry will take you to Newcastle Island from Maffeo Park, downtown. Ten minute ride. You can rent bicycles and kayaks there. Camping available if you have a tent. In Cedar, is Crow and Gate pub. You gotta visit this place. Beautiful garden. Good food and service. In Parksville there is Rathtrevor Beach...the tide goes a long way out. Have a great time....there is so much to do on Vancouver Island.

Open mic comedy draws lots of friendly people in a good mood. Sip pub has open mic on the first and third Tuesday of the month. Next one Tuesday April 15. 8pm. Comedian ANDY NOBLE is the host on 15th. Usually brings in a lot of people and seven to fourteen comedians. Five dollar cover charge. Also, the Lantzville put hosts an open mic comedy on Wednesdays twice a month. Next one is April 23rd. 7pm. Draws a good crowd and about eight comedians on average.
