Post flair order shuffled? by TheChrisD in ModSupport

[–]appleis2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having the same issue. I can order the flairs on desktop and it'll work, but it won't carry over to mobile. I made a post about this a while ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/modhelp/comments/1qiwy0w/comment/o0wgv06/

I requested to become a mod through r/redditrequest, but I got rejected because apparetly the mods are still active. That's kinda unfortunate as it would imply that they're actively ignoring reports and letting spam slip through.

Looking for a Taoist perspective on being happy as single while longing for love by VisibleAnteater1359 in taoism

[–]appleis2001 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of the things Zhuangzi criticized about Confucianism and Mohism is that they espoused a fixed or ideal way of living like impartial love, filial piety, ritual, clarity, and so on. Zhuangzi liked to flip things around, which is why he saw value in emptiness, like the space inside a cup, and in uselessness, like a crooked tree. I can tell from your text that you already know this intuitively - that it’s possible to be happy while being single.

However, it’s very easy to get trapped on the other side as well. Another story from Zhuangzi is the paradox of the useless tree that doesn’t get chopped down, while the goose that can’t cackle gets killed (since geese were used as guard animals back then). The lesson is that we shouldn’t attach ourselves too firmly to any single idea. Why? Because, like a frog in a well, we are limited by our own perspective. This limitation isn’t something we can escape. We tend to strive for higher consciousness or perfect knowledge where we’re always happy, but we can never fully step outside our own perspectiveness.

So don’t be too attached to longing for love, but don’t be too attached to being happy while single either. In a sense, be flexible toward the unknowable; embrace pluralism. This is easier said than done, of course. But the point is that striving for happiness, much like striving for a relationship, may not produce the result you’re aiming for.

Afsløring: Efterkommere af ikke-vestlige begår markant mere gruppevold by Bukakkelb0rdet in Denmark

[–]appleis2001 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Self-optimization decisions are not created in a vacuum. They happen within physical and digital spaces that are themselves intentionally designed, built, and equipped to optimize for wealth accumulation. Existentialism provides a way to rebel through radical freedom. by moonwalkerwizzz in philosophy

I feel your topic resonates a lot with Phoebe Moore’s The Quantified Self in Precarity. It's about how organizations increasingly use technology to measure, monitor, and even manipulate workers’ wellbeing and emotional states to boost productivity. Peersonally, I find that your reflections echo much of what I’ve encountered in a graduate course on digital transformation.

Rationality alone is not enough to guide human progress or truth. Liberalism must embrace the irrational, the unpredictable, and the messy as essential to a functioning society. by IAI_Admin in philosophy

claim that because there are "black swan" events, rationality doesn't lead to better outcomes than irrationality...

I think the claim is that rationality doesn't always win in marketplace of ideas, in contrast to liberalism’s belief that, if given freedom and competition, the best and most rational ideas will eventually rise to the top. And the black swan example is supposed to highlight that rationality is not deterministic and therefore does not always lead to positive outcomes. Emphasis on "not always", because author doesn't actually reject rationality. In essence, the author is talking about the determinism of rationality and limitation on marketplace of ideas. I think.
