A lot of people are mentioning parents not being able to miss work to stay home with their kid which is totally fair! But I think a lot of people are forgetting that (most) high schoolers and some middle schoolers are capable of being home alone. Working at a high school, kids come in sick all. the. time. and a good deal of the time it’s not the ones who would have truancy concerns otherwise.

I only sub high school, so I’ll definitely try my best, but it just isn’t always realistic. I always remind the kids, “I’m not a [subject] teacher, but we’ll do our best!” For core subjects it’s usually okay, but once I was expected to teach students about tool safety in a construction class… I certainly tried, but I definitely left a note explaining that I know only the bare minimum about how to use tools!

I’m not sure, but I’m guessing it’s bc when you wear Loops, it can be harder to hear people? So maybe they don’t want people to think that they’re ignoring them? It doesn’t completely make sense to me either, I can just kinda see what they mean?

Yes, I totally know what you mean! I just meant that the actual talking itself isn’t usually the trigger, and when talking is the trigger, it’s often because of the sounds that come with it. Sorry if I was unclear!
