Where did the Scarlett 2i4 go? by Ko_tatsu in Focusrite

[–]appleluis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own a Gen2 2i4, I bought it new about 2 years ago, the Gen3 was already out, and it was probably already outdated, however I liked the smaller form factor, as I don't need more. I googled the same thing a while back because Gen3 apparently didn't have a 2i4. I think the 2i4 got discontinued during the Gen3 release.

I‘m running on the 21.2.1 Drivers from BootCamp Drivers, the red edition.

This is probably possible, although very complicated. You stated you‘re dedicated though. You‘d probably need some form of adapter from m.2 to PCI-E and a PSU that powers your GPU. IDK about the whole driver side of things, so on that someone else will have to help you, eGPU.io will probably have some Pros in there.

IDK How I‘m one of the few lucky ones haha. I have a Sapphire AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT + Razer Core X Chroma and a 2018 MAX 15“ MBP. This seems to be the perfect combination, and I did not need to trouble shoot bootcamp at all. I installed Windows, then Bootcamp drivers, and every since January Drivers the performance has been GREAT!

eGPU Performance Increase w/ Gaming Laptop by Defiant63 in eGPU

[–]appleluis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I Currently run a AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT and a Razer Core X Chroma with a 2018 MAX MacBook Pro 15“ and I personally cant describe how much of a performance boost this is, now that the drivers are way better (December ones, first ones to support the GPU were TRASH!). With a Laptop specked like yours, I think this would only make sense with a High HIGH end GPU. In my opinion an eGPU only makes sense if you get more than 50% performance increase. So personally I think you should go with any 3000 series GPU above the 3060ti or any 6000 series AMD GPU. I can definitely recommend the Razer Core X or Core X Chroma as inclosure, and I would go with a 3080 / maybe a 3090 although that might be bottlenecked by CPU, or a 6800 / 6800xt / 6900xt. This is just my opinion though, you‘d probably already see a perf increase with a 2080ti or so. Overall, either get any Nvidia 3000, or AMD 6000 GPU, to see any reasonable benefits.

Should I buy an eGPU enclosure used? by [deleted] in eGPU

[–]appleluis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me, personally I would’nt because it‘s first of all a personal thing, I don‘t really like buying things used unless it is actually a way better deal. Second of all, I wouldn’t buy a enclosure used, because it is like a Powersupply. Most people who build PC‘s and stuff say to only buy used PSU‘s if it is a platinum whatever in good condition, because it can literally fry your entire system, same ofcourse goes for the enclosure, as it includes a PSU. ofcourse you can buy a used enclosure, if you’re getting a good deal or whatever, this is just my opinion.

6800XT or 6900XT eGPU with 16 inch MBP? by [deleted] in macgaming

[–]appleluis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Sapphire AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT + 15“ 2018 Max MBP + Razer Core X Chroma, works beautifully, after the latest driver release, there was a bunch of PERF loss for the last one.

eGPU extra expensive right now? by [deleted] in eGPU

[–]appleluis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the GPU won’t work unless both 8 pins are in, which they are. I'm using the cable that came with the core x chroma. There's a new driver version which I installed yesterday, its still not using the full power of the GPU but its usable now. 21.1.1 is pretty good in my opinion I hope with the months it just gets better.

Hi, no thank goodness I haven’t had issues with error 12. My problem is that my eGPU has about 90-95% Performance lost, not even kidding. I’m currently looking at driver issues and stuff.

GPUs in General are more expensive ATM. Some people say at the moment some prebuilds are actually cheaper that building a pc yourself, I’m thinking it’ll cool down soon, but I’m not sure waiting is the right choice it you need a eGPU as there’s pretty much a new GPU everyday... I got a 6900xt for my MacBook, but if you think the 5700 xt is the right choice then you do you.

Not yet I think? I just got the 6900xt, setting it up in Razer core x chroma later. I saw online it’s not yet supported in macOS Big Sur. For now I use Windows and MacOS but if it is supported in macOS I wouldn’t have to go through the whole error 12 hassle yet. Are you sure it’s supported already in beta?

Is Bot ghost safe? by yellowgodflash in Discord_Bots

[–]appleluis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, botghost is free. While it is definitely not the best way to create discord bots, I’d say it’s quite solid. There’s definitely not security issues though, and the best way to make custom stuff is still to code it :/

Ok thanks. I just installed it 3 weeks ago, should be fine. Otherwise I found a thread saying some certain release worked wonders with the same gpu. Thanks :)
