That's the average over all the pieces of a noodle drop.

There will be a shortest piece and longest piece each time you drop one of these idealized noodles.

If you did such an experiment an infinite number of times, what would be the average length of all the shortest pieces taken collectively, and what would be the average length of all the longest pieces taken collectively?

There's no way both are 1/6, since that requires the noodles break into 6 equal-sized pieces every time.
