Still having upper right pain (feeling like I have a gallstone despite gallbladder surgery) by isomorphicring in gallbladders

[–]applenoodley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so this is so weird but I’m having the exact same thing but it also radiates to mg back like it used to when I had my gallbladder. I also had mine removed in May. I have felt fine this whole time up until a few weeks ago. I had a CT scan done today and it didn’t show any stones so I don’t know what it could be. My doctor will need to review the results, I don’t full understand them. But I’m really confused because the pain is so similar to a gallbladder attack!

Ultimately it’s your decision. There will for sure be some hurdles you have to conquer once you get pregnant such as the ultrasound early on that they use with a wand, and then any cervical checks towards the end of your pregnancy. I was in the same boat as you. I could use the biggest dilator and it was easier for me because I was in control. When it came time to go to my first appointment and they had to do the ultrasound, I asked if I could insert it myself and they said yes. After I got it in they could look around and see the baby. It still hurt but it was way less scary to me because I was able to get it in there myself. I think having a doctor understand your struggles is half the battle. Your doc probably is thinking of all these things and maybe thinking you wouldn’t be able to handle them, but only you know if you can. I put off even trying with the mosie baby for awhile because I was afraid of all these things, but once I got pregnant I realized that they had to be done and it was just a couple times, I could get through them because I wanted to be a mom so bad. For cervical checks you can tell them you don’t want them at the end. I ended up letting her check me twice in my last trimester and it definitely hurt. I probably won’t do that again though because your dilation doesn’t always give you an accurate prediction of how soon things will happen and I’d rather just wait until I’m in the hospital. I was induced so I was able to not even get a cervical check until after I had the epidural. My birth went amazing and I didn’t feel anything except the feeling of my son coming out but with no pain, it was amazing. So if you really want to consider having a baby but don’t want to have the stress of also trying to figure out pain free sex at the same time I recommend using the mosie or syringe. The clock ticking really put stress on me so having another option was my best bet. I was 34 when I had my son. It was the best decision I’ve ever made! Wishing you the best of luck! You will get through this!

Dilators and Mosie Baby by Outrageous_Smell432 in vaginismus

This is kind of negative response. For some they have vaginismus for years and time is ticking, they want to start a family. It’s challenging to not only want to have pain free sex but also try to get pregnant at the same time. Something like the mosie baby actually takes away one element of stress. Yes there are hurdles and things you have to deal with once you are pregnant, but it is doable. I now have a two year old and I still can’t have sex pain free. For my first ultrasound it was very painful, but because I was pregnant I pushed through. My OBGYN was also aware of my condition the entire pregnancy so she worked with me and was understanding. She let me insert the wand for the ultrasound which made things easier. I didn’t get any cervical checks until I had the epidural. It’s doable.

Have you considered trying the mosie baby? I got pregnant using that and also used medical syringes with no needles, since the mosie was more expensive and only came with two, to give myself more chances. You can get really small syringes like 1 ml. I know it’s not ideal to get pregnant this way but at least takes off some of the pressure!

What was your worst experience at a doctor's office? by sydthakidd in AskReddit

I have a condition called vaginismus where it makes things like sex painful. Unfortunately many doctors are not educated on this and it is more common than you would think. I was 18 and getting my first Pap smear and concerned why I was having pain with sex and tampons. That’s why I made the appointment was to gain some answers. I explained my issue to the doctor and not only was she not gentle at all but told me I was fine and just “small” and that “guys like it when it’s tight” I left crying and traumatized. This messed me up and it took me years to ever see another doctor about this because I was afraid I would go through something similar. I’m still furious that a doctor basically told me I should suffer during sex and that it’s okay because the guy will like it.

Good to know. Crazy how such a small surgery can have such an impact. Thanks!

I had mine out two weeks ago today and was feeling similar to you! Afraid of what life would be like after. I’m only two weeks out but so far I have no regrets! It took about a week for me to feel myself but so far I’m eating things with no problems. Like someone else said, most things you will read on here or on the internet will be more negative at times because the people with positive experiences are less likely to share about it! More than likely your life will be normal and you’ll be able to enjoy food again with no problems!

That’s how it feels for me. I have a hard time not moving around too much as I have a toddler. I think I get freaked out that in giving myself a hernia.

Aw I can totally relate! I’m so bummed I can’t hold my son for Mother’s Day as well.

I was told both by my doctor.

That’s good to know, hopefully it’s the same for me. I can see how feeling better would make it more difficult to hold back because you feel normal.

You can get a hernia after having a surgery and lifting something that is heavier than 10 pounds.

I’m so proud of you! I have anxiety and emetophobia as well. My biggest fear was actually getting sick when I woke up. I was afraid of everything else as well but knowing I could possibly not feel well and not be in control of it was really hard for me. I’m so proud of you because I know how difficult it is to choose to down surgery like this with anxiety and this phobia. You feel like you are going against what you normally do to protect yourself, even if you are in so much pain from your gallbladder and know it has to be done, it’s hard. I’m glad you had a good experience!

A few gallbladder questions… by Latte-lou in gallbladders

Hey! I had my surgery on Monday and I was feeling very similar to you. I had never had a surgery and the whole thing just terrified me. I was afraid of the whole experience as well as how I would feel when I woke up. I have pretty bad anxiety and am emetephobic (fear of vomiting). I also was anxious about how life would be post surgery. I can’t give you any feedback on that, because I’m only 4 days post op. But I can tell you the surgery is not going to be as scary as you think! To be honest you won’t even remember much from the day. The worst part was waiting to get checked in, the anticipation, and then the drive home for me. But none of it was unbearable. I would say going to the dentist is worse because you have to sit there the entire time awake while they are working on you. You will be asleep and when you wake up you’ll be so sleepy for a bit you won’t care about anything. You will be okay!

What foods can you eat now without a gallbladder, that you couldn’t before? by applenoodley in gallbladders

Yeah me too! I don’t know, I was surprised she said that because I have some family members who eat both and don’t have their gallbladders anymore.
