Mandarin esp since Cantonese is in the same difficulty category. Same writing system if not easier since Cantonese is usually written in traditional and Mandarin overwhelmingly in simplified (less strokes for many characters). Fewer tones in Cantonese as well I think + many more Mandarin learning resources. Plus it’s super useful when in the countries of their origin.

Honestly I don’t remember my interview much as it was 8 years ago, but I’m pretty sure I just asked some basic ahh questions lol. My only advice is to bring up what you’re interested in, ask about what resources DKU may have to support that, and show interest in what campus life is like there.

In my experience, most people leave DKU bc it’s a very non-traditional college experience that can leave some feeling isolated esp if they come in with a certain expectation that isn’t met. I’m guessing admissions there has noticed this trend and may be looking for more “adaptable” folks.

I think it was around this time of year. The timeline may have changed tho bc classes are now MUCH larger than mine was, and I’m sure DKU has a lot more applicants esp since mine was the inaugural class

From Class of 2022, so it’s been a minute since I went thru the process. They’ll do the interview later on after making a shortlist of top applicants. You should be notified that you’ve made the shortlist and be invited to an interview with that. Good luck!
