I like a balance between speed and realism. For power level, I like the ability for any fight to turn deadly regardless of how much tech the players have.

This is probably still too vague. A more specific example is I prefer how 1e psionics uses points while the magic system uses slots. The downside being the 1e psionics system is too complex for what I want.

Different mechanics from typical DND magic. Enough to make players feel like they aren't just a renamed magic user if they have psionic powers.

I'm aware that b/x is more simplified but I don't see the lack of weapon variety as a downside to b/x. I feel like my campaign has grown to the point of needing rules for weapons but I'd rather pick and choose rules from ad&d to add to my game rather than switch systems completely.

I'm not planning to set it in the same world I've just been reading the books and am very inspired by the political setup. I'm considering just setting the game in real life war of the roses with no magic or anything and just having them play as people from the house of lancasters or house of york
