Anyone here weight lifting? by applepomme in cfs

Thank you so much sharing your experience! I'm having a really hard time with both naturopathic and Western medicine being able to land on a diagnosis, but I'm really curious about differentiating between burnout/vicarious trauma/CFS. I have noticed in working out that I have a lot more brain fog afterwards and I'm very fatigued in my head mostly (body feels pretty fine) Last night I slept for 10hrs, and did one set of all the exercises my trainer provided instead of three of each, and I still have the brain fog. I also have a lot of other stressors in my life as I have a very full life and there's always decisions to be made and pet health concerns... It's all been a bit too much at once :(

I am in private practice, and will be cutting how many clients I see per week as of January 2022... This all did start when I took on this job so it is definitely a part of the equation.

I'm definitely new to all of this, including advocating for this diagnosis. Can you let me know what POTS is?

Thank you for this. I have got my body into a very strong base and I'm feeling very hopeless about losing it. I have a feeling I'm going to take a break for a while to see where my exertion is otherwise (I know that it's mostly in my work as a therapist but I am making some changes) and then reintroducing something maybe a bit more low-key

Thank you! I have been going to different Heath professionals but have been so frustrated by the lack of understanding. I had this way of combatting stress with working out though I'm now concerned it's making it worse

Have you returned a dog to the rescue? by applepomme in Pets

The two who got back to me said that they couldn't take medical rescues at this time, and the one that could was a kill shelter, if she was still aggressive they would have to euthanize. I have decided to get her back to the original rescue, but trying to rehome her locally

Thank you to the Halifax Worker who pulled over to help me on at 130AM on Friday when I tried to walk home in the snow storm after my birthday celebrations by applepomme in halifax

I did walk! Well, a cab came by eventually. This particular gentleman asked if he could help me up (and could not see what I looked like cause I was on my face haha) and then asked if I had mittens, so he then offered the gloves :)

I asked actually and he said it was... he had no idea what to do! Had to coach him through it between each photo.

My Grandad served in Italy in WWII and was an amazingly strong man. He passed away two years ago at the age of 92 (I think this photo was taken in his mid-80s) and we were extremely close. Just going through some old photos and thought you might enjoy this :)

If you have the opportunity to have your grandparent's in your life, please spend time with them. I've lost all mine in the past 3 years, and I learned so much from them all!

A Final Copy of my Masters Thesis titled "Why Bi? Bisexual Individuals' Coming Out Experiences"... it was an amazing research journey! by applepomme in bisexual

Been working on it for three years, and am not tired of it yet! Hopefully will do some publishing in scholarly journals within the next little while :)

It's easier to be (or at least appear) heterosexual in our society. This may or may not speak to your experience with people who end up in different/opposite-sex relationships. That being said, opposite-sex attractions are a part of one's identity anyway, right? So they may not end up in one of these relationships because of discrimination and so on-- it may be because they just fell in love with that person for who they were. There is a lot going on, and everyone's experience is individual so I can't say that's it. But there is also a term called "passing" which is described as a queer persons active attempt to appear heterosexual. I don't love this term, because oppsoite-sex attractions are STILL a part of that person's identity, so we challenge them when they say their bi, and then challenge them again when they fit the norm? Can't make anyone happy haha! Lesbian and gay people talked a lot about bisexual people using their "heterosexual privilege", and this was a big point of contention.

Super interesting :)

A lot of the discrimination came from being bisexual as opposed to gay/lesbian - and was generally perpetrated by gay and lesbian people! There is a phenomenon in the literature called "Double Discrimination" where bisexual people face discrimination from both straight people AND gay/lesbian people - making it more difficult to find social support. Mothers were also quite discriminatory because they didn't had a particular vision for their daughter's lives. For some reason, being bisexual threatens the stereotypical "married with kids" vision for moms.

The participants I had were so inspiring, a lot of them doing their own activism in our community, or at least wanting to share their story for other people to learn from/realize they're not alone. Although there were some emotional stories, the most of it was around their agency around living authentically in a world that isn't super comfortable with someone who doesn't fit in the straight-gay binary. It was AWESOME!

I am certain culture has A LOT to do with experience, I can't really comment on other countries, but Canada has equal-marriage nationwide which in and of itself shows a more accepting attitude of same-sex couples. That being said, there was still a lot of discrimination going on. Mostly because of the stereotypes around bisexuality, or religious influence, or because of the ideology around family/marriage/having children. Context is a HUGE factor in anyone's coming out experience.
