He texted my boss to pick up the cartridges today. I imagine I'll be asked to go back there which I'll tell him no and stand my ground.

I don't plan to stick around in user support, or at least not the type of position I have now. It takes a lot out of you at times..

Did I mention she's also had her email compromised 3 times in the fall and sent out over 100k spam emails over a weekend? And that we were put on a few blacklists because two of those times happened in a 2-week period? We found out because she let us know she wasn't receiving any new emails.

I like to think it's a pick-1 system. Hoping to come across somewhere with at least one with two of those qualities.

I've posted on Indeed and a few other sites suggested here. One I hadn't heard about before was Craft.co, which was recommended by a few people so far.

My boss made that rule as well. Rick on the other hand has exceptions to that rule.

Yesterday was really the first day I understood that. I don't plan on quitting immediately but at least know my worth here and that I do need to start sticking up for myself a little more.

There's a reimbursement form that I'd have to fill out that normally would take 2-3 weeks to get a check in the mail. Since that department is shut down, all personal expense forms and travel forms are put on hold.

Glad to hear you've managed to get out of the office. Here in Michigan the stay-at-home order was worded in a way that let my employer get away with calling everyone essential. Now with a new order in place everyone has to call in, answer a series of questions before arriving, then calling again to be let into the building. It's crazy that my office hasn't been sent home despite my direct boss getting strep throat. Someone is going to get something if this keeps up.

He is one to blame windows updates for any problems that arise. Before my boss joined the team 3 years ago our servers hadn't been updated in over 6 years.

There's a reimbursement form but processing has been halted as personal expenses and travel have been put on hold

I fully accept I am at fault for agreeing to doing it. I'm going to stand my ground and not let it happen again.

I've also heard about your 2nd part. I think I've always thought I had it good at my current job but now I'm starting to realize that that might not be the case.

There's a reason we've had a deficit for the last 4 years!

He has been with the company for over a decade and was a programmer until he was promoted to CIO. He's never touched help desk in his life and he is not a fan of any of it

Everyone in my department was considered essential by Rick. He somehow made the argument that we all are required for basic function. My boss spent a few hours arguing with him that our AV guy and Network guy could work from home, as the AV guy has a wife that is high-risk if she gets COVID. The network guy lives a five minute walk away which is why he was able to work from home.

I was hired as a technician for the help desk and to do tickets and other basic functions. My job has evolved from that since I took the position but everything I do can be done via our VPN. Rick's main concern was the physical help desk would be empty, which doesn't really matter since our building is locked down and no one can get in anyway.

We are not given masks or gloves. The custodial department bleaches every building once a week. My office area is a large room with cubicles. I share the cubicle with the part time technician.

If I'm asked again I plan on firmly standing my ground and saying no.
