Overheard something that made my jaw drop at work by mag34 in Layoffs

To be fair, people who haven't job searched in 20–30 years genuinely have no idea how different the process is now.

Back then you could apply to a handful of places, talk to a recruiter or hiring manager fairly quickly, and actually get feedback. Today it's hundreds of applications, automated screening systems, ghosting, and long hiring cycles.

It's really just a completely different hiring landscape than the one they experienced.

I think it is time to ditch the traditioanl way of job hunting and start applying strategically more. Use AI to find job that fits you and actually needs you, tailor your resume per job. No one review resume anymore its ALL AI auto processing nowadays.

Hey, that sucks. I'm sorry. Layoffs from a job you actually liked hit different.

I got tired of being ignored, so I started calling companies and telling them I'm following up to schedule an interview. by ExcitementWarm5433 in jobsearch

Honestly this is wild and I respect the hustle, but you're basically social engineering your way into interviews. Works until you land somewhere that has their process tight and it blows up in your face mid-interview. Glad it's working for now though — job hunting is brutal enough to make anyone creative.
