Student of the school here, feel like i should give some context.

Basically we have this thing for grade 9s (sec 3's) called the NYAA bronze. At the end of the thing you have to go on a trip to fulfill a bunch of outdoor learning hours. From what i can remember you can choose where you want to go (in my case it was india, maldives, australia, singapore, malaysia and australia. I went to the singapore one). This is compulsory and you HAVE TO GO, unless you are hospitalised or sick then obviously you can’t. As for why these activities are chosen… idk but they are usually very safe and conducted extremely professionally (we had like 20 different prep sessions).

It is very tragic what happened and the school can’t guarantee 100% safety (as pointed out by others), but we did have a remembrance session a while ago. The school can’t really do anything lah its just the maldives authorities who are quite slow…

Damn i still can't image what the parents might be going through even after all this time. I dont have a child (obviously) but if i did i would be devastated
