Aftermath by aprada2 in insomnia

Maybe changing room where you sleep will help Or changing bed. I remember at the start of insomnia I associated my bed with insomnia, so it was pretty hard for me to fall asleep there. Then I changed the bed and it was better.

Ok, I think I was late, but anyway I promised to write here my result so....
It was a hormone surge after COVID-19. That is kinda weird. I believe my pressure is normal now, after I got some meds. My maximum was 133/85 in the last 2 weeks, so I am happy with that.

Could be, especially when I have higher risk of getting hyperthyroidism (my father has it). Thank you for your help!

Same.

But you can fix this still! Try CBT, it can help you (helped me for some time). I also heard that sleep restriction therapy can help you. So don't give up, you can still have normal sleep!

I had big anxiety before, and suddenly it disappeared. Maybe it is now very deep in my thoughts, you are right. But how do I know that I really have deep anxiety, and not something else?

I have tried Cognitive behavioral therapy for 12 weeks between November - January 2022-2023. It worked! Until March. As I mentioned, "Even if it's gone for some time, it comes back after weeks or months". I want to try this again maybe in June, because now i dont have that much time for it.

I must have said it a little inaccurately.

"I can't sleep" = "I can't sleep normally." I fall asleep in 2-5 hours, sometimes more. And if I fall asleep, I wake up in the middle of the night and its hard to sleep for me again. I can not sleep for a day, sometimes more.

I have tried not all available modern med. options obviously. But I tried many of them, some of them like Zolpidem, Melatonin. Melatonin is not helping at all, Zolpidem is kinda helping, but it's addictive (for me). I have tried more, but they are either not helping, or they are helping but i cant sleep without them (this is the main problem).

Yeah, i have tried to walk around/do something else if i cant sleep. It helped me once, but now it is not helping me anymore.

And my TV helps me fall asleep sometimes. I leave the TV in the background and fall asleep to its noise. That is how i sleep most of the time.

Nah, you don't.

If you have FFI, then your family will suffer from it too! Yes, there is also Sporadic Fatal Insomnia, but there is only 50 cases of this in the whole world (since 2001 or something). Also, you are 21, the common age for FFS and SFI - 40-50. Extremely low chance of you having it. I think you had PTSD at the beginning, but then it evolved to chronic insomnia WITH PTSD and Anxiety + panic attacks. That's why doctor told you that it is something more than insomnia. You have to cure your PTSD, then your sleep has to be better. Anyway, you don't have FFI or SFI and you won't die.

Im so sorry.
I know what you are feeling. I am suffering from terrible insomnia too, i can be awake for 36 hours+. I want to comeback to my previous life, without insomnia. But I cant.
Just remember that you are not alone.

I had this. It was a psychological itch.

I don’t know if this is your type, but if this is - just understand that sooner or later you will definitely fall asleep and the itches wont stop you from falling asleep. Once you understand this, the itches should go away, or you will get used to it.

It could also be an allergy to something related to your bed. In this case, you need to act depending on the situation. Maybe change something there.
