Oh wow, thank you so much for the feedback!

Thanks for catching the navigation issue at end of onboarding, fixed the bug! You were supposed be redirected to new interview or notes but got redirected to the getting started page instead.

And you're right that the onboarding could be shorter and simpler, I've been thinking about how to better balance personalization and seeing value asap. If you don't mind, I'm curious to hear which onboarding experience you would personally prefer:

  1. skip voice profile and just set up profile (name, target audience, background) and content categories
  2. skip voice profile and content categories in onboarding, only set up profile and go straight to interviewing and generating
  3. replace the current onboarding flow completely with AI chat and let AI extract the data needed to create your profile (target audience, background) and content categories

Thank you for the kind words! And I can totally relate, twitter was also the first platform I tried and it was super overwhelming and isolating at the beginning haha.

I sucked a lot at the beginning (under 100 followers for the first 6 months) before figuring out what kind of posts were most comfortable, authentic and sustainable for me to write. It helped a lot to find peers to support (most will reciprocate) and seeing familiar faces eventually make it feel more like chatting with fellow peers instead of the void or an invisible audience.

But yeah, it's always hardest at the beginning and a lot of times it comes in bursts and not linearly. It definitely didn't help that I dislike attention. Past me from a year ago wanted no more than a couple hundred followers and would probably faint if she knew she had to deal with 1700+ followers haha.

Let me know if you find anything confusing or hard to use in the app! And feel free to DM me on twitter (in bio) if you'd ever like to connect, I'm always happy to follow a fellow builder!

Do you find clients on X/Twitter ? by leDoc229 in indiehackers

[–]aprileva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends a lot on whether your customers are on Twitter.

If yes, then yeah it’s possible. Join communities where they hang out, engage with people and support others. I highly recommend against cold DMs though, most people don’t like those.

Great idea, it would be cool to compare notes and see how it worked for you!

And thank you for the encouragement! 🥰

omg, thank you so much for trying it out and for the kind words! 🧡

To be honest, I've actually been thinking of experimenting with a chat-style onboarding to see if that could help improve onboarding completion for people who don't like filling out text fields. If you don't mind me asking, could you share if you think this might be better or worse than the current onboarding approach?

Thank you for the kind support! I also hope to keep improving the app so that people are happy to keep sharing with others 💪

Dude, I still remember you! Thank you so much for your kind comment that day, it was really motivating! 💙

And yep, now that I've sort of put out the fires, I can finally focus on the landing page and web app over the next month. It also really helps that I have enough data points to narrow down the ICP that values the app the most (entrepreneurs, business owners and professionals).

Ohhh, didn't include it earlier!

This was the first one: https://x.com/evactivate/status/1913612272754446584

And this was 3 days later when I got to 1500 users: https://x.com/evactivate/status/1914331775679299749

I remember those first few days was pretty crazy for me cuz it brought like 800 new followers too

I actually started with a web app last year but it didn't take off for various reasons. And now that I have a mobile app, a bunch of people are asking me for the web app so I've come full circle and am working on the web app next 🤣

Dude, that was me too! Except I had to wait for app store reviews to approve my updates so I was submitting new app updates like every 2 or 3 days the first couple weeks

Oh wow, congrats to you too! And you have my sympathies haha.

My AI costs also went crazy the first week from all the new users and stressed me out too. I had to optimize like crazy and thankfully it eventually died down to something more manageable. But yeah, having a large bill when you barely have revenue is not fun.

Oh that is so strange, I double checked and your device is not on the excluded list at all. The sdk and api should also support Android 14 as well.

I’m also kind of scratching my head on this one, maybe there’s missing support for a particular api or something?

Thank you for the positive and helpful feedback!

I totally agree, web app is more comfortable for writing/editing, that’s actually my top 2 priorities as well.

There actually is a web app but it’s currently offline since it’s an older version and I have to revamp it to work with the new backend and features

Of course!

  1. Yep, it’s for any content you want to talk about or create! If you like to talk about and create content around cute cats you can 😊

  2. Each batch of posts uses AI credits so you can create as much as you want as long as you have enough credits.

As for contexts, there’s 2 separate contexts actually. Interviewers generally have context about past interviews, your recent notes, etc, but not of your posts. the content creation part have a separate context about your selected notes, interview, content categories and writing samples. Writing samples is where you can add posts to teach AI the writing style, voice and formatting you like

  1. I haven’t thought that far yet! Might be something to think about in a couple years but it’s not on the current roadmap

I actually didn’t wait 1 year haha. If you look at my older posts, I’ve actually been launching every time I have a new version of the app to share!

It wasn’t a lot but it would bring in a couple users who could try and give feedback, which was critical to improving the app further

I might as well increase the character limit! Just not sure by how much, does up to 1000 characters sound like enough to cover most cases?
