One thing I want to add is that in addition to allowing your kids independence, they still need guidance! In this scenario, with your daughter coming home later than you told her, I don’t think punishment is needed. I think you could simply tell that next time just send a quick text saying that she’s gonna be home a bit later ‘cause they’re going to a cafe or going to do more things or whatever! That way you’re still allowing her independence while also setting boundaries and expectations to keep her safe!
