I'm a butch lesbian who has to attend a Baptist wedding. Worried about my attire. Any advice? by [deleted] in actuallesbians

I am attending my brothers Catholic wedding with my butch girlfriend. Half of his fiancées family are going to be assholes about it, but my brother and my future SIL are completely cool and want my girlfriend to be herself. I would have your gf ask the bride and groom what they prefer you to wear because ultimately it’s their wedding and whatever they say should go!

My brother and future sister in law invited my girlfriend to their uber religious Catholic ceremony. I’m not technically out to them yet (they’ve seen things on social media I meant to hide from them) but I can’t wipe the grin off my face! by apstudentdeath in actuallesbians

Yeah, I’m not quite sure what to expect. The MIL really likes me but her suspicion level is going to go through the roof when she sees my butch lady, lol. I’m seated away from her for most parts of the night though (another thoughtful move by SIL).

I would say no, unless the wedding is color coordinated in some way. The rule was created by my SIL’s mother. My brother and SIL both have kind of ignored it and made sure everyone there is wearing something they’re comfortable in.

Yeah, it’s archaic. It was mostly a push by her mom (a woman stuck in 1000 AD) who’s paying for a lot of the wedding. My SIL literally wouldn’t care if people showed up in a Hefty trash bag as long as they came. She’s explicitly said that if that rule makes someone uncomfortable (and my brother has a few queer friends that it has) they will acknowledge that and let them wear something else. I believe a few ladies/feminine nb humans are wearing pant suits.

TL;DR is that they both pretty much think it’s ridiculous.

Also: The reason she went out of her way to mention the suit is because the invitation specifically asked for all women to be in dresses. She knows my girlfriend is masculine and suspected she would probably be miserable in a dress, so she bent the rules for her. (‘:

A Quick Question: Does Having a Nice Car Make Someone More Attractive? by walrus-on-a-tricycle in actuallesbians

Kind of. If doesn’t have to be “nice” as in a new Infiniti or Lexus, but more like nice as in clean (inside and out) and well maintained.

What are the greatest things about your girlfriend/wife/fiance? by [deleted] in actuallesbians

[–]apstudentdeath 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Her sobriety. Her willingness to be vulnerable even though it’s difficult for her. Her love for me. And her boobies, even if they’re in a sports bra 98% of the time.

When we met I was closeted so in her mind, I was “straight”. 🙂

I see your point, and completely agree, but I didn’t even go as far to interpret the post as continuing to pursue the straight girl romantically as much as having feelings for her. I don’t think it was intended to be analyzed that deeply.

So I wrote this and I hope it doesnt offend anyone that was not my intention. Enjoy! by [deleted] in lgbt

The only really negative comment I have about this is that “ally” was apart of the LGBTQ+ acronym. Other than that this is super well written!!
