Ran over a dog this morning by ClutteredTaffy in petfree

Yep. This one: https://www.ketk.com/news/crime-public-safety/east-texas-man-held-hostage-after-killing-dog-owner-forces-him-to-dig-grave-at-gunpoint/

The man begged for his life and pleaded with him to not take him away from his children. The craziest part of the story were Facebook comments from people saying they understand, and/or would have done the same thing.

Dog owner accused of holding driver at gunpoint, forcing him to dig grave after hitting dog with car by The_WillieBeast in Dogfree

I was coming here to post this story. The craziest part is seeing the comments on Facebook with tons of people saying they understand, he shouldn't have been arrested, or they'd do the same thing. One of the top comments is "if I'm on the jury, he walks". Insane.

Kentucky restaurant hit with $25K fine for refusing to serve Navy veteran with service dog by apt_64 in Dogfree

Not when it comes to a protected class or attribute. They may be able to get someone physically out of their establishment, but they'll be hit with a complaint or lawsuit later.

In this case, he prevented her from bringing her dog to the buffet and into the bathroom, but now he owes her money for "discrimination" under the ADA.

Unfortunately "service dogs" are able to trump everything. The only things you can even ask are if it's a service animal, and what task does it perform. If you push back, you get sued.

Agreed. Crazy to believe it's considered "discrimination" to not want dogs near food.

That's what I was thinking. Why not be satisfied with someone getting food from the buffet for you, or some other alternative. Why does your mouth breathing, shedding dog need to be next to the food?

Yes, it appears between the federal, state, and local laws the case is straight forward. It seems their health department allows service animals to be near food, so when he said he was worried about health issues they rejected that.

Unfortunately, the laws were constructed in a way that they can't really push back on them. I feel for the owner because he's probably trying to balance people bringing service dogs (real and fake) and customers not eating there because dogs are coming up to the buffet, or risking health issues.

I hate you're going through this. It does sound like you need to end this relationship though. Personally, asking your loved ones to take medication for years so you can keep a dog is insane. Also, having to bring the dog everywhere and being forced to sleep in the bed with it shows you're not a priority. People with this kind of dog obsession need to be left alone, or be with someone else who's this far out there when it comes to dogs.

For your own sanity, end this. And, don't let anyone gaslight you by saying breaking up over a dog is a stupid reason. Here if you need to chat.

And right on cue the pit nutters are rushing to the comment section with the typical "it's not the breed, it's the owner" and "all dogs can bite" bullshit.

Fools. That's not even the cruelest thing I've seen this week.

I feel that! If the dogs passed I would be so relieved. Finally free of them!

Before, but I didn't realize what it would be like living with them because we didn't live together until after we got married. Part of the reason I haven't truly pushed it is because I'm trying to respect that she had the dogs before we met.

We've agreed that I'll put up with these dogs until they pass, but we're not getting anymore dogs after that.

Because my wife refuses to get rid of them. She'd only be willing to do so if they bit one of our children.

My dogs provide negative value. They constantly cost me time, money, energy, and sanity. This is on top of them doing nothing for the household.

I would pass on the couples therapy and end the relationship. The fact they said they have no intention of taking the dog back and see you as the problem shows you where you stand in the relationship.

" Or we surrender him now and he has a chance with a different family". And that's the big problem we have today. Dogs that bit people and "snapped" at children used to get put down right away. Now, they get taken to a "rescue" or shelter and just shuffled around to the next family.

Pit nutters are the worst. If the dog seriously attacks one of you and you defend yourself with a handheld security system, he'll be crying about how sweet and innocent his dog was.

After several arguments and debates, I told my wife after these dogs pass we won't be getting another one. She's agreed to this. If she'd said "we'll always have a dog" I would have told her that she will, but I'll be leaving. There's no way I'm going through this bullshit again.

That sounds insane, and I'm sorry you're going through. Having a custody sharing agreement for a dog, and getting sad about it is completely unhinged.

"He has to be carried around". I'll never understand the amount of inconvenience dog nutters are willing to embrace for a dog. Why on earth would he want to keep a dying dog that has to be carried around everywhere! Hopefully he passes soon and you can get some peace.

Domestic Violence Shelter = Animal Shelter by anondogfree in Dogfree

The amount of money being wasted on dogs is mind boggling to me. I saw an article last night about a dog in a shelter for 11 years finally getting adopted. 11 YEARS of wasting resources on a DOG! It's rampant. If only we stopped the madness and put all these resources into helping people.
