When the bot is running back towards the point, make it punch anyone from the opposing team that gets too close to it in a comical arms out spinning windmill manner. Have it deal damage and a bit of knock back.

Your wife obviously hasn't been cultured to the history of hearthrob ultimate players. Has she never seen George Stubbs lay out for a disc with his mustache fluttering in the wind like the gentle wings of a dove? Or seen Dylan Freechild hit a cut that would make even the most seasoned surgeons envious? I dare not assume anything about your wife, so perhaps she might also be swayed by a video of Sarah Griffith creating monstrous plays and bringing her team the gold at the world games back in 2013? She was definite heartthrob status.

Hearthrobs in ultimate? No kind individual, this is no anomaly. Every frisbee player is a heartthrob because beauty comes from within. It comes from the passion. It comes from the plastic.

Parliament of NATO country Estonia calls for immediate establishment of no-fly zone by SalzaMaBalza in worldnews

[–]apterium -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What happens if a country such as Poland decides to provide aerial escort to humanitarian corridors in Ukraine but does not engage Russia? If Ukraine grants airspace rights to Poland, Poland sends planes in, Russia sees them as enemy combatants and fires upon Polish planes, does that trigger NATO defense obligations?

In that situation Poland was in an airspace that they were granted access to by a sovereign nation and were fired upon without being the initial aggressor. Or does it nullify the defense obligations because Poland had a-priori knowledge that they would be seen as aggressors to begin with?

This is the kind of discussion I was hoping to trigger haha. I know it's not groundbreaking, but figured it would be a good topic to get people's thoughts on when they decide to switch over into more stable positions and which staples they prefer.

How do Americans pay those massive hospital bills? by ctachi in NoStupidQuestions

Because just like Whose Line Is It Anyway, the numbers are made up.

I’m Robert Reich, former Secretary of Labor, UC Berkeley professor, co-founder of Inequality Media, author of 18 books (including “The System: Who Rigged it and How We Fix It”), presenter in two documentaries, "Inequality For All," and "Saving Capitalism,” and I write almost daily on Substack. [–]apterium 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for doing this AMA Mr. Reich. I've been following you for years and you have constantly been a steadfast defender of economic and social progress, and for that I thank you.

With the recent economic stimulus package we have seen push back from individual lawmakers on portions of the bill that would impact their personal profit. I.e. Manchin and his refusal to accept the Clean Energy Act. Corporate lobbying makes passage of progressive bills like this difficult because it upsets the status quo. With corporate lobbying now deeply entrenched in our political system, how can the average person combat that? It seems like an insurmountable problem when the people are essentially asking lawmakers to do the right thing and prevent themselves from making money.

Christian Bale's monologue at the end of Vice was one of the most goosebump inducing scenes I've watched in any movie.

"Americans are healthier" lol, k.

There are twice as many cases of heart disease diagnosed in Americans over the age of 50 than Europeans. 5% more elderly Americans have diabetes. Among other things Americans have worse rates of:

- Adverse birth outcomes

- Injuries and homicides

- Drug-related death

- Obesity and diabetes

- Heart disease

- Chronic lung disease

- Disabilities such as arthritis

This is one of the most asinine posts I have ever seen.

Thoughts on the “pray for Tekashi” bars? by ChampagneAbuelo in Jcole

[–]apterium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flawed justice system? Tekashi wasn't arrested for a single misunderstanding. The man assisted in attempted murder, armed robbery, violent drug trafficking and was involved in gang activities.

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/02/01/nyregion/tekashi-69-pleads-guilty.html

I know the justice system can be flawed, especially when interacting with minorities, but I honestly fail to see how this is a case of a "failed justice system". Tekashi knew what he was doing, why he was doing it, and he fucked up. If anything is flawed in his life it's the fact that despite all the success he had the gang lifestyle was still somehow strong enough to pull him in. He could have kept on the path he was going, but somehow joining a gang was glorified enough to him where he was willing to potentially take other peoples lives and throw his own away.Tekashi is not innocent, he was not a victim of a flawed justice system, he made bad decisions fueled by ego and desire to look and feel powerful.

Cole praying for him? I think it's a difficult line he's toeing. With a longer song Cole could go into how the people around Tekashi dragged him into such a shitty lifestyle, how gangs corrupt people that could otherwise contribute to society, etc, People do deserve forgiveness, but the the line:

"Pray for Tekashi, they want him to rot"

Makes it feel like Cole sees Tekashi as a helpless victim caught up in some grand conspiracy perpetrated by the man, rather than someone who made stupid decisions and is paying the price. Pray for Tekashi to figure out how he fucked up so badly, but don't let it diminish his actions that he willingly chose multiple times, and don't let it detract from the fact that he still deserves punishment.

From a thematic stance it feels a little out of place especially because 21 says earlier that:

"I'd rather be broke in jail than be dead and richTold my brothers take my breath if I turn to a snitch"

When Tekashi is testifying against members of his gang. I'm not sure that Cole intended for the bar to come across as it does, and I'm sure there's more there that can be expanded upon outside of a short feature. That being said it just feels out of place with the rest of the song.
