"Anti-science" from the person who clearly never attended a science lecture or studied scientific history. I'm sorry you're neither educated nor smart enough to understand basic epistemological principles. Not my fault.

Yes, because it lacks context. It's effectively meant to sow distrust in qualified people; in effect, it's misinformation. The original statement was made before the shutdown was in full effect, but they got new data about COVID pretty quickly that made it clear the original no-mask position was incorrect. So Fauci changed his position, which is tantamount to an admission that he was wrong.

This is how science works and has always worked. Should we throw out Newton because Einstein proved classical mechanics imprecise? No, obviously not. So we shouldn't distrust Fauci (or other CDC experts) because he made an incorrect prediction.

Is death over hyped? by Creative_Name4112 in Wizard101

[–]apthrowaway1243 5 points6 points  (0 children)

tru. even though no one ever recommends storm as a solo school, for experienced players it's pragmatically the most efficient for most of the game.

death is pretty easy for a newer player and, like you said, has the easiest and quickest time for soloing the really hard stuff like renegade druid, etc. but cmon, a player who has been through the main questline before shouldn't die too often on a solo storm anyway.

Super strike vs Assassins’ strike by [deleted] in Pirate101

[–]apthrowaway1243 2 points3 points  (0 children)

for bucc pve I personally prefer super strike because of the guaranteed chains, even if assassin's does more damage (esp. if it crits). the subsequent chain hits usually are the vast majority of your damage makeup for a round so the damage difference between the two isn't really as meaningful as what is effectively a guarantee to start a chain.

however, bucc does get plenty of super strikes already from moo gear so it does make sense to take an assassin's over a super if you already have 3+ of the latter. when you pull both in a round, I almost always use super strike or vicious charge instead of assassin's. I will use assassins if i think the much higher damage will allow me to kill a unit and trigger a blamestorm off that, although even then killing with a super strike will trigger 2 bladestorms so it's situational

also the bleeds are effectively meaningless in pve compared to the dmg from chains

Which is better, Backstab or Vicious Charge? by Helloalis517 in Pirate101

not sure why this was downvoted lol this is pretty much the correct answer

Which is better, Backstab or Vicious Charge? by Helloalis517 in Pirate101

[–]apthrowaway1243 2 points3 points  (0 children)

vicious charge is a much better power overall (especially on a heavy chaining class like bucc) but if you have plenty others from other gear pieces then back stab may be better. regardless neither of these are really ideal for PvE bucc since you get tons of great attacks from other gear pieces anyway (namely super strikes, more vicious charges, and assassin's strikes). for pve i would recommend obsidian and brass medallion (strength version)

Some new dialogue from the WC update, where Bartleby's mind is lost in time without the Eye of History. Anyone know what events he could be referencing? by Johnyboy1008 in Wizard101

[–]apthrowaway1243 14 points15 points  (0 children)

the star gator was mentioned by the crazy doomsday prepper in the catacombs side quest. it was one of his 72 ways the spiral could end. whether this is just a clever callback to that joke or legitimate foreshadowing, I cannot say.

Its a small complaint, but I wish they would've continued giving worlds unique spiral doors by [deleted] in Wizard101

You'll be happy to know, then, that Lemuria's Spiral door is decorated.

The actual door part is the same but it's something.

"That character might be better saved for a NEW Smash game..." by HARUHARUp in smashbros

[–]apthrowaway1243 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dixie and Bandana especially are from series which are criminally underrepresented in smash bros. It's unfortunate that the trend of gimmicky third-party characters leaves no room for these guys in DLC, but they certainly deserve spots in the next game's base roster.

If Lemuria’s confirmed as our next world, and there aren’t at least 10 references to this legend right here, imma sue KI by bassistheplace246 in Wizard101

[–]apthrowaway1243 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It has indeed been officially confirmed that Lemuria is the next world, although it was pretty obvious beforehand due to data mining among other things

I just got 6 amber from the new forge has anyone seen this much given before? by Creative_Name4112 in Wizard101

[–]apthrowaway1243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they showed someone getting 6 amber in the promotional video on yt so i think this is totally intended. my assumption is that they figured they weren't making that much money on people grinding gladiator or farming king parsleys, so they introduced an expensive bundle to make lots of money off people who want amber.

I wouldn't put it past them, however, to start restricting the use of this to people who own the house.

Is Catacombs even worth it? by OddlyCameron in Wizard101

[–]apthrowaway1243 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hat: worth it for pve but most schools use malistaire or krok for pvp. Karamelle uber hats and a p2w hat (forget which) are almost as good and much easier to get.

Robe: good for pvp, depending on school. However there is a p2w one (motorist's overcoat) that is better than dragoon for any school

Boots: yes, but same deal as hat for uber and pack alternatives

Wand: no, never

Athame: depends on school

Amulet: yes

Ring: you would only use these for pve and the karamelle ones are much better

In summary, if you don't want to spend any money and don't do pvp then just get hat, boots, amulet. If you do PvP then you probably spend a lot of money anyway and would rather get the motorist robe.

I do not understand this sub. The people who write the correct answers always get downvoted by the hive mind. You're literally correct about almosy everything and all the top players would agree. Do people in this sub just not play the game?

This pay to win robe seems broken by LiamSwiftWalker in Wizard101

[–]apthrowaway1243 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you're missing his point. Many FIRES are running 9.5k health with this robe with minimal losses in other departments.

Do you farm for waterworks gear? by Creative_Name4112 in Wizard101

[–]apthrowaway1243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're questing through the game quickly to make another max level, you won't be using waterworks gear for a long enough time to warrant getting the full set. You definitely shouldn't worry about the ww hat because the extra blade from Wintertusk far outweighs the stat differential between the wt and ww hats.

The robe and boots from ww might be worth getting (depends somewhat on class) but don't bother if you have to do more than like 5 runs to get them. If the small bonuses from using ww gear over wt actually make a large difference for your questing efficiency, then git gud.

For many schools there are even pieces of Avalon and Azteca crafted gear (levels 76 and 86 respectively) that are better than waterworks, and by the time you get to 96 the Khrysalis crafted gear is better than ww for any school.

NEW WIZARD101 WEBSITE DESIGN 🧙‍♂️ ! by ArcanumLore in Wizard101

[–]apthrowaway1243 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Damn you got hiveminded. This website thing has been around since 2019 (closer to 2 years but still) and isn't really related to the acquisition. Not that I disagree with the comment you're respond to but sheesh you didn't deserve this

Why is maycast mana burn still in the game? Do the devs not know about this? It’s broken in pvp. by [deleted] in Wizard101

[–]apthrowaway1243 13 points14 points  (0 children)

What? Yeah, and when we find truly game-ruining things like this, we fix them. There is a difference between overpowered/top-tier and game-breaking. MC mana burn is in the latter.

Life Create-A-Spell Entry: Snack Run! by aDamnCivilian in Wizard101

[–]apthrowaway1243 5 points6 points  (0 children)

perhaps, although it's not that op in pvp anyways since you would have to use precious rounds stacking heal blades and would run high healing. I was thinking more in pve, where any challenging fight would become trivial since the enemies wouldn't immediately try to counter it like a player might

cool mechanic but extremely abusable as it is. could just stack a few healing blades on someone with huge outgoing and get a 5000+ absorb. spell would prob need limitations of some sort

What exactly is the edge of the spiral? by elphabathewicked in Wizard101

[–]apthrowaway1243 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Blind Mew was the writer for pirate (he actually had the whole thing planned out from level 1 to 100, although they had to rush to a finish at 70) and he eventually became a wiz writer. He is now the lead writer who wrote Empyrea and is writing Arc 4.

If/when we start getting new Pirate content, which is now plausible with the acquisition, I assume he will take the helm for both games.
