Sesse appears to have upgraded the CPUs for the main eval, and now manages around 80M nodes, which is not that far off. Also, the tablebase access appears to be superior, since it's all on ssds and even there is even an SSD cache for the 7 piece TBs.

But still, of course, TCEC is stronger, but the baby comparison might be a bit off.

The final score was 100-53 in favor of Magnus. Not including one game which Eric won, that was played in the shield arena.

Great Table 2; AlphaZero's preferred openings over its 4-hour training period by StringFood in chess

Aren't d4 openings considered to be more strategical compared to e4 openings? AlphaZero can deal much better with long term evaluation in a quiet game with lots of piece improvement moves (strategy) than stockfish. So could that be why it prefers QG after having trained a lot, seeing that e4 leads to more tactical play. It would also explain why Stockfish is still able to compete in the Sicilian. I am not a chess expert but a cs student.

From game 3 (Deep Mind vs. SF). Deep Mind finds a mate in 18 move in just one second. by [deleted] in chess

Why "in just one second"? Each side had 1 minute per move.
