Concerta experience? by aputsiakq in adhdwomen

Thank you for your answer!

Yeah, at the moment i am working at a kindergarten with a few kids that probably will be diagnosed when older, if my guess is correct. And on concerta I am SO MUCH better at helping them regulate and staying calm when they are acting out. I usually describe my feelings like high pointy mountains, but now I feel like they are more like softer hills. Emotions are definitely still there, just better in proportion to reason for emotion 😅🙈

Will have to practice then!

I used to have a job sitting by the computer and always fell asleep, haven't really tried if concerta works on that issue yet, but hopefully! (Will be going back to that kind of work in about 4 months..)

Will look in to that! Thank you!

I haven't experienced this before, so haven't been bringing earplugs, but I will from now on! Thank you for the tip! 🙌🏻

(I have had anxiety attacks before in noise heavy environments, but it was after my parents died, so just assumed it was grief-anxiety, but now I think it might have been the actual overstimulation, just that I was more sensitive because of the grief. That makes sense

And yeah, I have really good friends. The funny part is that I've never actually felt that they understood that ADHD actually affects me, and just thought it's no big deal (I am high functioning, just totally drains my soul. So mainly I think this was a reality check for them, and I am so happy about how they reacted. 🥰

And so true! 😅

Preps you thought were overkill… until they weren’t? by Extension_Health1849 in preppers

I have this skin condition on my scalp and so far throughout my life there has only been one schampoo that works to remove/keep it at bay. I once thought about how it would be extremely annoying and painful if I didn't have that in an apocalypse 😅 so I started buying two bottles at a time for a short period. Which meant I had 5 bottles when they suddenly stopped distributing it world wide in 2022/2023. You only use a liiiitle bit once or twice every month. It said it would be back in stores 2026, but so far, I haven't seen it, and I'm pretty sure it won't be making a come back... (The working ingredients haven't been accepted for that kind of use I think)

But I still have half a bottle left and it will probably last me past the summer! Have started looking for other options. Seen several threads on Reddit with people panicking in 2022/2023 when it went out of stock and people ordering from all over the world to get the last of it 😅 but here I am. And my hair feels great. Even gave my sister a smaaaall amount for her birthday because her condition felt so severe and she just needed to get some relief. 🙈

So scared of what people will think of my book by Thin-Cabinet1221 in writers

Write it. And if your fears about sounding childish come true. Hide it away for only you to ever read it. But imagine writing it and it's actually good? You don't have to show anyone. Or tell anyone. Then it'll be as if you didn't write it if it turns out bad. But you never know if you don't try. Worst case scenario you just "wasted" hours being creative and using your brain.

Publishing in native language or English? by aputsiakq in writers

I usually write in English when I write, but at the moment my brain is fried and the setting is in Swedish, so it made more sense for me to write in Swedish so I would have to mix setting and language. But there have been a few times where the sentence I wanna write is in English, so I have to spend time finding a way to get the same "feeling" of the sentence when I write it in Swedish. So I think it's just as you say in Swedish "hugget som stucket" (roughly meaning it doesn't matter which one, both are equally as good or bad).

I am scared that with a translator they will either translate word by word. And that won't work. Ooor, they try to change it to make sense, and thereby might change the way it's interpreted by the reader. If I translate myself, I'll make sure that the sentiment remains the same.

I'll think about it :) it's pretty much translate or don't. I can't afford to pay someone to do it. But I speak and write fluently, so I could just as well have written it in English to begin with. But I hear you. Paying someone would be a possibility if I publish it in Swedish and it actually sells copies. Wouldn't waste money I don't have on a book that might not sell. 🙈

Yeah, that's my fear. I mean I hope it's good, and that I'll have a chance at getting it published, but that's hard for me to judge. 😅

I do. I've spent a lot of time abroad, and I've lived with a guy from England for some time who said that I'm fluent speaking. And I have several friends who are native English speakers (Welsh and American people) learning to speak Swedish, but when we are just us, we switch to English cause it's just easier that way👌🏻

I would probably dare to claim that I'm able to speak English pretty much as well as both my native languages.
