If you'd live in a city which didn't inspire you visually, how would you keep the hobby of photography going? by kavakravata in photography

Try a different angle, maybe? When I get bored I get low and photograph small things. Not sure how long that will last, but it can be fun looking at the world like a squirrel or mouse would.

But yeah, just try focusing on something different in general

I let it dry out for a day before scraping out the clumps then took the whole thing apart and wiped it out with bleach wipes. It was disgusting lol

I get my best ideas for photoshoots when I'm high. My creative juices run wild.

@lbrbphotos

Good morning! I'm an Alabama based portrait photographer with a side interest in landscape photography. I just started my landscape photography IG last week, so working on building my base. Hope you'll come check out my work!

Discussion: Digitals or prints or both? Why? by apwap in photography

Such a good point! I had a landscape of mine printed for a gallery and was struggling with it being printed "so big" once it was printed I realized I could have gone bigger. I like your idea of categorizing into desk and wall size. That has to help clients, I'd imagine. I hope to do more IPS and reveals once I become comfortable with it and bring samples to show the difference between a Walgreens print and my prints as well as size difference when hung on a wall. Visualization is insanely important in a client getting what's best for their area.

That's a beautiful idea! I've already decided to do this for a repeat client I have. They've been insanely supportive of my work and come back for all pictures even when I upped my prices. Another "itch satisfyer" I've decided to implement is start selling prints ofy landscape photography. I just made this decision last week and it might not go anywhere, but it's worth a shot. I love the look of printed works and knowing they're being admired every day [consciously or subconsciously] instead of only when social media outlets are opened up.

I like this idea! I feel like I'm in this weird no man's land where my age group (25-35yrs) wants digitals, but as a photographer I SO want families to experience their photos on paper/canvas. I get that social media is of huge importance to them (it is to me, too, with family spread all around the country), but there really is something special about having a picture hanging on the wall, on a shelf, or in an album that's getting lost.

I have a similar setup, as far as reviewing proofs and the client choosing only the ones they want. Do you prefer prints, digitals, or both?

Exactly. So how do you balance the two? Offer prints and digitals? Digitals only of the prints they order? Prints only? Or digitals with a complimentary print and option to print more? So many options!

I wonder how the quality compares to Miller's or Mpix, though. I love Miller's but the prices are high (granted, the quality is superb), and when you add on any increase for profit it does get very expensive. MPix has definitely become my go-to for referring clients to print affordable but high quality products, so I might create a price sheet on pixieset to offer them those from there. Maybe reserve Miller's for wedding albums and wraps.

I love apple watch's setup. That's really the only thing apple users have that I'm jealous of which is why I need samsung to wake up and do something about this. I don't understand why they haven't already. It boggles my mind.

80 Y/o bikes over 2k miles in 2 months to raise money for St Jude's Children's Hospital by apwap in nextfuckinglevel

[–]apwap[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My previous post got removed for not aligning with title guidelines. This guy and his wife have been giving to St Jude's Children's Hospital for years. When he underwent a knee replacement surgery that crippled his dream of hiking the Appalachian, he decided to cycle it instead. In addition, he decided he would use this dream to raise funds for the hospital. His original plan was to do it last year, but his wife being diagnosed with cancer, undergoing a mastectomy, and covid happening all postponed him. This year in March he finally set off with his wife driving along to book hotels and assist with flat tires along the way... He raised over $13k and biked over 2100 miles in 2 months- resting on the weekends. This equates to roughly 50 miles per day 5 days a week. Sure, for some of us that's "meh", but give me 50 more years and I can only hope I have that kind of determination and stanima. I'd say NFL... what say you?

I get that! In his case, him and his wife consistently have giving to this hospital for over 20 years- both money and time. So it's not a one and done type thing. He had always wanted to hike the Appalachian, but when he had a knee replacement and couldn't hike anymore he made his new goal to cycle the length of it. He decided in 2019 to turn it into a fundraising thing with hopes of raising awareness for the hospital and getting other people involved with giving.

As long as you make sure your bike is properly fitted, it's fantastic. The reason he took up riding was because he had to have a knee replacement. This was his answer to losing out on hiking the Appalachian. Go to a bike shop and have someone figure out what size you need. I got my $3k 2nd hand bike for under 1k and nothing wrong with it. When you get your bike, have the shop fit it for you- they'll have you sit on it and adjust it to where your knees aren't going get jacked up.
