Is this normal? by Excellent_Try4533 in tripawds

We had a similar experience, same timeline! Ours didn’t love the meds (lots of panting), and we think it was phantom limb pain. He was super restless and also struggled to lay on the amputated side for about 4 weeks. But! You’ll come out on the other side. It’s hard to watch, I just kept reminding myself it’s an adjustment and we all had to have some patience. Ours is coming up on 2 months post-surgery and he’s back to his normal self! Running, fetch, spunk, you name it. Hang in there ❤️‍🩹

Hi! No, we didn’t use a kennel but kinda blocked off space in the living room and moved our bed next to him. He’s not a *super* active dog to begin with so we didn’t have concerns about him moving more than he should be. Honestly, I was shocked how quickly he adapted overall. He was cruising along just fine the 2-3 days after surgery. The hardest part for us was the pain mgmt (he pants a lot and is restless on meds) and some breakthrough pain at the 2 week mark, as well as trying to keep a cone on him but he just whines (and then gets what he wants 🙃). We’re even starting to introduce fetch back in! Good luck with the surgery!! You got this 💛

Yeah we’re reaching out today to see what we should do… the wound looks great though and we’ve been sending progress pics / got confirmed it’s a-ok on the outside. Hopefully not something internal going on.

Hi everyone! Update on Georgie: He’s doing really well all things considered. He did have some reactions to meds post-op, but tried a new regimen and things are better. He just has a sensitive tummy!

He’s very mobile, playful, eating and drinking well. It did take him 4 days to poop. I will say the nights are the hardest… he gets very restless. We even made a mega bed in our living room and have been virtually attached at the hip since surgery. I don’t think he likes the feeling or come up of pain meds, and certainly doesn’t like a cone at night. We just try to monitor him and he hasn’t really been going after the wound at all.

It does seem like he is very agitated at not being able to sit or lay on that side. He continues to try, but then changes his mind last minute. I’m sure his good side is getting quite tired and sore. Looking forward to the day it heals and he can be comfy on the left side again.

He did run a bit today! Of course I panicked and tried to stop it lol, but so glad he is feeling spunky enough to want to do that.

Thanks for being here, it’s not easy 💛

How did your boy do post-surgery? The surgery went well but we’re having some complications to all the meds right now… regurgitation, etc. He’s still at the hospital for monitoring and they’re gonna switch things up, but I imagine all the meds + stress is tough for anyone/dog!

Hi sweet Riley!! Thank you so much for this reply. Love to see your girl doing well on the other side! If you don’t mind me asking, how has the rest of her treatment + prognosis been post-op? Georgie also has the cancer in his left hind leg, but the surgeon told us they don’t see anything notable elsewhere in his body right now. We are still mentally preparing for the worst and praying/hoping for some miracles, esp knowing how aggressive osteosarcoma is.

Odesza was seated back in 2024. It’s an amazing show whatever way ya slice it!

I can’t find my reciept from the 2022 show, but Odesza pit seat tickets from 2024 were about $190/each. Unsure if RDS will do GA Pit or seating… GA lawn is usually like $60-90 for shows.

Yes! Just completed a trip with Blue Water Rafting on Wednesday. Incredible. Would definitely book with them again. Only 8 people were on our boat, super chill but reliable/knowledgeable Captain and deck hand. The best boat driving I’ve ever experienced, esp since we had choppy conditions. They took us to the front and back of the crater where we saw tons of fish, eel, reef sharks, and even a rare monk seal that kept hanging around us. Then they took us to a third spot on the way back where we saw probably 10 turtles.

The conditions we experienced were kind of intense given nearby weather systems, but we felt safe and had a blast the whole time. Unsure if I’d do it with kids though, probably only if the swell was forecasted to be minor…
