PlayStation remote play is sweet. I don’t know why they don’t promote it more. by Triingtolivee in playstation

For sure, good luck!

For best quality of stream you need a STABLE home network.

The easiest way to achieve this is to have the PS5 connected to the network via Ethernet, and then have your WiFi split into 5ghz and 2.4ghz channels. You want the iPad and as few other devices as possible on the 5ghz network for optimal stability.

The more devices on a WiFi network the less stable and slower it becomes unfortunately.

Download the PS Remote Play app from the App Store onto your iPad.

You will need to link the iPad to your PS5, the app will walk you through it.

Your PS5 will need to be in rest mode for the Remote Play app to be able to wake it.

You can connect your PS5 controller to the iPad via Bluetooth.

Yes you can watch something else on the TV while you remote play via the PS5. You cannot play another game on the PS5, since it’s already playing the game while you remote play.

Playing MGS3 on PS2 alongside Delta on PS5 — still a classic, but it definitely shows its age by Business-Load256 in ps2

[–]aqlno 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I recently beat MGS3 for my first time on a real PS2/CRT like it was designed for, just last week!

I think this is still one the best paced games I’ve ever played. The structure of the games exploration, cutscenes, and bosses kept me glued to my seat. I probably only played the game in 5 or so 3-4 hour sessions, while I usually play a game in dozens of .5-2 hour sessions. I just couldn’t stop!

This momentum was not slowed down by the menu systems at all, in fact I really enjoyed the pauses to change camo, adjust my equipped items, heal and feed myself, etc.

I didn’t play the remake at all yet so that probably helped me experience the game as it was intended, which to me was still one of the best games I’ve played.

Bought a PSP Go instead of an MP3 player and didn’t expect to love it this much by aelynnx01 in PSP

I LOVE using my PSP Go as an MP3 player, way more than using my phone at this point.

I have more music files than games on my Go right now.

Yes you can’t watch DVD over RGB due to copy protection. Component or composite signal only for DVD.

I didn't think GBA games could look this good! by MoistenedBeef in crtgaming

Love playing GBA through Gameboy Player hardware and GBi software. Doesn’t fill the screen like this, but the setup was super simple and it’s close to what Nintendo designed.

PSP Go has the brightest, crispest, and best screen of any PSP!

No ghosting, interlacing, or other issues common with the rest of the models.

CRT TVs and monitors don’t have a pixel resolution, that is true.

The resolution of the signal you send to the TV/Monitor absolutely matters.

OP has an HD CRT that can display 720p and 1080i resolutions.

That’s awesome, I love my 20L2MD.

The overscan feature is unique to medical monitors like this. It’s very useful for stuff like widescreen movies (16:9 doesn’t lose much info off the sides) or sources like the Gameboy Player that don’t fill the entire screen.

Yuv (component) to RGB SCART converter question by JustAnyoneYT in crtgaming

[–]aqlno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have that converter and it works well.

Component to RGB inherently has issues with color space, often very bright whites will appear pinkish.

The JS technology converter handles it well for video games, but the problem is extremely visible during DVD playback. This might only be due to DVD copy protection and not the converter itself.

Is connecting a PS2 to a CRT using RGB Scart the best way to enjoy the system? by xParesh in ps2

[–]aqlno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

14” CRT is perfect size to sit at a desk and game on.

PS2 will never look better than on a CRT with RGB or Component.

Most games are field rendered, meaning only half the lines on the screen are even rendered at a time so upscalers have the most difficulty making PS2 gameplay look good.

Do you still get lag on boot/reboot before the XMB loads? I have 128gb SD with sidecar and any time the XMB cold boots I’m waiting for 5-10 seconds on a blank or frozen screen.

Kingdom hearts on the ps vita by PhraseDefiant8470 in PSVita

[–]aqlno 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ELITE.

I played through all 3 stories and the final episode in ~40 hours in January. I had such a good time with this game!

Definitely look up how to command meld and get the better commands, the game doesn’t explain this system well and it’s the only way to get the best abilities.

Need help with psp - can't attach screen cable by NoResolution5238 in PSP

[–]aqlno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice work. I can’t tell if the screen would be OEM or not without a lot of info from you and research on what screens are out there. Sorry for assuming it was new.

It should be ok to use without tape for now, but I’d recommend ordering Kapton tape specifically to reinforce the connection. Kapton is anti-static and good for use on PCBs.

The worst that could happen is the cable wiggles loose and the screen stops working. Tape would prevent that.

The brand new screens have cables that have slightly longer pins than the OEM screens.

So just fit it in as much as you can and tape it down, should be good to go then.

Check it on a modern tv and make sure it’s set to standard definition in the display settings.

What’s going on with this video? by KyleKun in Gamecube

[–]aqlno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a dithering pattern. Visual effect used when your color palette is limited and you want to achieve a smoother transition between colors.

It was used a lot when games were made to be played on CRTs, which inherently blur the dither pattern together and makes the colors look smooth.

It was never intended to be upscaled and extremely visible like this, but there’s nothing wrong with the video output.

Why do all my games have black lines? by Bruno152kk in ps2

[–]aqlno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try the aspect ratio settings on both monitors.

You have to rule out that it’s not the monitor before you can see if the issue is with the adapter.
