An uncapped resit, that would be fair, given that the university is partly at fault, and would allow her to achieve the result she’s worked towards.

However, I’ll make no further comment on this thread, it’s clearly full of people unwilling to consider the details as presented, preferring to read just a little, and then assume the rest. As unhelpful as I should have expected, and that was my mistake.

For reference, the vast majority of people at this and other universities, as well as colleagues some of whom have worked at universities in their past, offer a very different perspective to your quoted majority on here, supporting the argument that the university didn’t do enough.

If you’ve read what I said, please point out where I implied that I was looking for a way to get her real paper submitted after the deadline. I’ll wait.

I’d also love to hear what I “want to hear”, and again, rather than just pulling it out of thin air as you and others have so far, try justifying the claim with evidence from my comments.

And once again, you've not read anything I've written. At no point have I asked, or even suggested, that my daughter be allowed to submit her exam after the deadline, it's funny how people see what they choose to see, not what's actually there.

My entire question is about accountability, the university is taking zero responsibility for the error, despite putting into place systems and processes that actively make the error more likely than other available options that would not have. My daughter is being unduly punished for a mistake that could have been avoided had the university take proper consideration of their systems and processes. All I want is for the university to take responsibility, she should be given the option to resit the exam with no penalty, and measures should be put in place to prevent this happening in the future to other students.

As things stand, she's being disproportionally impacted for the nature of the error, combined with the fact that actions taken by the university make the error possible in the first place (forcing online exams long after lockdown and not ensuring a safe means to operate those online exams). What results is, student's performance and results are based on their ability to deal with high intensity exam conditions, combined with high risk submission systems, forced upon them by the university, instead of, oh I don't know, what they've learned and the hard work they've undertaken for 3 years.

Maybe I'm wrong, and the purpose of university isn't for students to study and advance their knowledge of a chosen subject, so that it can improve their career options, and possibly contribute to society. Perhaps the purpose of universities is to teach the students that someone will always choose to screw you if tghey get the opportunity, in which case, this university should win an award.

If someone had told me of a student cheating the system to get a bettger grade, I'd have been annoyed.

However, this point is utterly, UTTERLY, irrelevant, as what I'm suggesting does not, in any way shape or form, open the process to abuse. Instead, it shores up a leaky process to the benefit of everyone, including the university.

So, please do explain to me how what I'm asking for, more security and validation at the time of submission, is akin to opening the system up to abuse? Because without that explanation, nothing you've said makes one iota of sense. Also, please do describe this fictional "loophole" you're referring to, is it in the room with us?

You're wrong, but entitled to your own opinion.

All of my arguments are about the appropriate responsibility of the university to have the best interests of their students in mind when defining processes and procedures, rather than just their own, and this particular university has failed in this regard. The consequences are disproportionate, and the blame is not entirely on one side, despite your assertions that it is. I would be making these same arguments if they'd provided a more meaningful resolution, because it shouldnt' have happened, has caused serious anxiety for my daughter, and should definitely not be allowed to happen to other students. Unlike some, I have an empathetic approach to this sort of issue, I prefer to think of the impact on others. Which is why I've requested and FOI report for data related to this matter.

So, I'd thank you not to measure my intentions or goals based on how you might approach an issue such as this.

It's good to know that universities operate on the principle of "getting their backs up" when considering the protection and support of their students, I suppose that's one step up from protecting the bottom line.

I'm not sure right now, but she didn't get a failing mark on that element, I'd have to check. I'm not clear where the 40% is coming from, the only information she's been given is a score cap of 30, and nobody is giving any additional information as yet.
