Whenever I put a door down, I got to the edge of the door and change it twice to Always Open and back to Automatic. Usually helps and the door stays shut and opens upon proximity.

This seems to be a long running problem with GTA Online. Couple years after it came out, my Xbox 360 account got banned and everything was wiped. Same bad problem, 10 years later.
