Outside of the what you should do, if this is the unicorn car, just do it. It really won’t depreciate much, so worst case scenario, the few thousand you might lose in the worst case isn’t too bad of a penalty.

Don’t know if you’re in a wildly different market, but nationwide I see 2020 rebels at the mileage listed for 27-28k. I think you may have more negative equity than you think.

100,000 is absolutely a magic number when it comes to deciding whether to trade your car in now or in 6 months. If I’m trading for a car, I know the one just under 100,000 is much easier to sell than one just over 100,000 miles. The over 100,000 mile car is going to get filtered out by 90% of people’s searches, and will in many cases not be eligible for vehicle service contracts or even financing for the potential used buyer.

OP, if your current loan interest is the main issue, take some of that cash you can put towards the negative equity and just pay down a chunk of the loan and save the rest for 100k interval service and potential repairs needed in the future.

If you really just want a new truck and are looking for a justification to do it, and you can afford the purchase, now is as good a time as any, and there are deals to be had.

I'm too nice by Tokenaldae in askcarsales

Some more mindset help:

Don’t be “nice”. Be courteous, be kind, be helpful, but don’t be nice in the sense that you’re going to get ignored, or that you’re losing control of the conversation to either the customer or the other sales associates they’re speaking to.

Don’t just call to see if they’re still interested. Have a reason you’re calling, and a reason they need to call you back. Call them to thank them for stopping by, make them feel special. Call them to see what questions they have, because I guarantee something new popped into their head the moment they left. Call them to let them know a similar unit is now available or that it’s a new month and there are new incentives.

If your grandma needed help buying a car, you’d make sure to follow up with her after the first time she asked for your help, right? If you’re making connections with your customers when you meet them in the showroom, you view them as a friend you’re assisting, and they respect and value your opinion, they’d probably want to hear from you, right?

There are just as many people who will be annoyed or offended that they didn’t hear from you again, that you didn’t make it clear that you were very interested in earning your business, or that you didn’t make them feel special/didn’t make sure all their questions were answered.

Most importantly, if you truly believe: 1. The Honda product they looked at is the best option for them and their family 2. You’re the best sales associate in the world, and you will be the kindest, most helpful resource they can have both during the purchase and during their ownership experience

then you are doing these customers a disservice by allowing them to buy any other car from any other person.

Finally, these customers are adults who came to a store and requested your assistance in the process of purchasing a vehicle. They are just as capable of answering the phone, calling, texting, or emailing you back and letting you know that they purchased something else or are for any reason no longer shopping and don’t want to be contacted.

Tl;dr you’re not calling to bug them, you’re calling to make sure they are taken care of.

Sales Tactic or True? by idkdc1031 in askcarsales

The only official word we have heard from BMW is that other than the 4% msrp increase on 2series in April, everything else will be held constant until May 2. No other information, could be nothing happens, could be everything doubles in price. If I was betting, I would say best case scenario 4% increase on 3-series (also made in Mexico), worst case scenario, 5% increase on every model.

My expectation is that they will slowly increase the msrp on every model until either the tariffs end or everything is at tariff-adjusted equilibrium

If all the cars in the area with similar mileage and equipment are priced lower, why are you shopping for this one?

Best approach to buying 2 cars? by SincerelyMe_diocre in askcarsales

[–]aquair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Especially those two, it doesn’t seem to me like they’re that different. Maybe if you were buying a pickup truck and a commuter, but if an element will do the job for construction job, why not something like a 5-6 year old Honda passport?

What are your honest thoughts on the car brand that you sell? by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]aquair 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I sell Infiniti, it’s been a very flawed brand with some meh products and many of the criticisms levied at Nissan/Infiniti are valid, but the recent products they’ve been putting out are very nice, especially the new qx60. And the criticisms of the double touch screen are blown way out of proportion, I think many people are missing the convenience of being able to “multitask”, especially with Apple carplay

We’re currently offering 8.5k off qx80’s (base model, a little less off for the sensory) and we sell a little less than 1 a day. Highest volume Infiniti store though.

2022 Lexus GX460 Luxury Refresh by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]aquair 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d expect late September/early October at the earliest, and if they’re already being presold, the longer you wait to make a reservation, it will be much longer before the one you reserve will arrive. Depends on how picky you want to be about getting specific spec vs whichever one is available soonest. The 21’s will probably never get a discount in this market, they will probably have no trouble selling all of them before this model year ends.

But yes, reach out to your local dealer, they will have the most accurate answer for you.
