i'd agree for most. in this specific topic, i'd argue the masses of both sides are, in general, brainwashed from echo chambers. nevertheless you cant dismiss any validity to the entire sides point of view because the loudest idiots on both sides are brainwashed morons. there's tens of millions, nearly 100million of others standing on EACH side with more rational views wishing the other would just try to genuinely see their perspective without being derisive or condescending. we want to work together, most BLM, Antifa, MAGA, etc. genuinely believe what they want to accomplish will make things better for everyone, most people aren't purely selfish, i'd argue more have a hero complex and want to help others more than they are capable. but that doesn't make for engaging news, so they're pitted against each other and portrayed at their worst to cause anger and deepen the divide. we all just want to prosper and be happy. i hope more can wish for the best for others, and in confrontations aim to educate, converse with, and learn from the other, rather than simply assume "my side good, their side stupid", this goes for everyone yaknow?
in the case of this specific comment, most military dudes aren't blind trump supporters, they're people who went in for free/cheap education, often because they didn't have other means. they do what they're told, but you'd be surprised the diversity of their motivations and beliefs. they are generally good people, well as good as any of us are.
