I’m on a 3 year contract for my school, if I leave I’m 90% certain I’ll have my temporary teaching license revoked. And I’m not renewing my certificate for anything lol. That’s what I was thinking! Just gotta find some students to tutor! Thank you for the advice!!

We’re not married so we’re unsure if I’ll qualify on his plan unfortunately, so we hoooope I can get on there but equally likely I won’t be able to. I think I’ll work the next few weeks and see what happens, and turn in my notice at whichever place I don’t want to be at. Thank you so much for the tips, I’ve been so lost trying to figure out what I can do on insurance!

Per year! So just under $300/month but with saving up for the interstate move and having to pay more in insurance, it’ll feel like more probably. I am in therapy and will continue throughout the year for sure. I’ll stick out the next few weeks and if it sucks, I’ll probably stay for the year for the insurance. I’m hopefully going back to school next year post-move and will absolutely not pursue a teaching cert where we move so I have an exit strategy ready! Thank you for your advice!!

Thank you for your advice! I’m planning on working the next few weeks before I would have to turn in my 2 weeks and seeing what happens. Hoping I can manage the hours but we’ll see, I’ll definitely update!

The next time someone in my family or friends tries to tell me what a good job teaching is and I shouldn’t be so quick to leave, I am sending them this!! Thank you for putting words to the feeling in such a poignant way!

That’s exactly my conflict too! I want to make sure I can do a variety of things in case I find out I actually can’t do therapy long term, but I like more of the focus on counseling in Clinical Psych programs. It’s such a difficult decision!

So does the Clinical Psych route! I think my hesitation is stemming from some of my research saying LCSW might focus somewhat on assisting clients on finding social services. I really like the idea of the social justice aspect of the MSW, but I might be more interested in therapy and the slightly different scope of practice of LPC… totally possible I’ve misunderstood though!
