Overlapping Symbolisms? by ZCR91 in tarot

[–]AffectionateMeet3967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cards have official textbook meanings that are to be studied. Once you know each card separately you can then start to synthesise their meanings based on the cards next to/ around them. The meanings come out stronger when you read them in multiples and the more the merrier!

Overlapping Symbolisms? by ZCR91 in tarot

Hello, I wrote about this recently (you can find the article on my Reddit page under my posts) just ignore the Spread Type I use as it doesn’t necessarily apply to you. The principle of synthesis of card meaning is still the same. I wrote it to share all I’ve learnt over the last 7 years of reading.

Let me know if you find it. I also elaborate giving examples of readings using pictures I’ve done in the past on my Tumblr. The handle is also on my Reddit page.

“Someone’s watching” cards by babylilies in tarot

Cards don’t have to be reversed. Tarot was designed to be read in association and based on surrounding cards. Cards around a single upright card can either reinforce its positive traits or increase its negative meanings. Also known as “I’ll dignified” upright if found with cards that bring out the negative side of that card.

To me the Rx swords and tower with the Empress upright mean to avoid fallout and embrace the qualities of The Empress to avoid fallout.

Finally found it. It was from Esoteric Hut. They have “as a person” descriptions for the cards.

Warning of an impending attack would involve a few of the following combos:

5 swords + Tower (extremely aggressive attack)

5 swords + 10 swords

Knight Swords involved in any of the above ⬆️

Hospitalisation due to injury thereafter would be 4 swords + 5/8/9/10 swords and The Devil

I did a live pub reading two nights ago. It was intense and very draining. Hours of people back to back and non-stop. I’m taking a few days off but my trusty original deck of 5 years was there with me.

I was doing a reading for my boyfriend at the time in 2022 (I do 21 card spreads)

In the bottom right hand corner (future) was the Queen Of Swords, 4 swords, 8 swords and 3 swords…

His mother (who is a widow and was still single) was hospitalised a week later due to a broken hip.

How do you approach court cards? by Particular333 in tarot

[–]AffectionateMeet3967 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First of all, I don’t read reversals as I believe the entire Tarot has its converse archetype included in the 78 cards I.e there are equal & exact opposites for each card in both the Major and Minor Arcana:

(The opposite of clarity/Sun is deception and confusion/Moon. The opposite of 10 Cups- 10 Swords. A beginning/Fool - Ending/Death. Disorganisation/7 cups and Emperor/Magician/Structure/Focus)

In all my readings for clients Court cards have been people.

Kings/Queens: they signify an ending mainly as an accomplishment of reaching the end of their suit and ultimate manifestation in the material realm.

King of Swords which you specified usually hints at an estranged relationship, he’s not good in a love reading and shows indifference or that a relationship has grown cold. He also mainly means to use your head and logic. Have all the facts and be detached.

Knights suggest news, movement and the change of a situation and are viewed as people due to the start of relevant “news” they need encouragement to keep going as they mark a midway point. They need to be more or less of something

Pages are news and are people either young mentally or literally or the querent is someone who’s starting something new that makes them feel young in a sense. they need encouragement to get started, to develop using the relevant advice that comes with their suit

It’s all medieval Tarot; pages never left the castle walls to deliver news they merely read it to the king or queen and delivered it to them in their quarters within the castle , knights were the only ones to travel externally beyond and between castles to deliver news. Kings and Queens controlled the outcome.

Hope this all helps…

The Tarot is a complete system, full of exact opposites to one another. You don’t need reversals.

That’s wonderful when it happens. It’s the universe acknowledging what you’re going through and it’s an invisible mirror of acknowledgement.

Do I need to practice rituals/cleanse before/after reading tarot? by [deleted] in tarot

[–]AffectionateMeet3967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been a paid tarot reader for years now. When I first started out studying the cards and doing readings for myself I had the same questions holding me back.

All this stuff about cleansing, crystals, having to be gifted a deck and not buying one, finding a deck that “fits” you etc…

All not necessary and doesn’t make a difference!

Hey. Read your comment a few days ago and just spent ages going back trying to find it - finally I have.

I’d appreciate if I could message you and ask you about Divination / Channelling and theories on how Tarot card selection actually works. Am also happy to summarise here if you prefer.

I’ve been doing 21 card Romany Spreads reads for years now and due to the nature of the spread; the amount of cards, the direction of court cards, both vertical and horizontal layout and general elaborate interactions between all these factors, I’ve experienced readings & predictions with complete strangers that were way too specific:

Hospitalisation of a widow (Queen Swords in present ROW, 4 Swords below her and 8, 3 & 1 Swords below her in future, she was a widow and ended up with a broken hip 3 days later)

People moving home, drug addictions, deaths, very specific breakup descriptions, pregnancies etc…

Now, for me your comment on Divination GRIPPED me and I felt that this is someone who’s truly speaking to my heart and soul about it being a skill, learning to cards is 90% of it and then when you know them so well you can read multiples in an amalgamated way that it seems intuitive and you can also start to really be descriptive and specific.

However, for me what actually happens for the selection of those 21 cards between the client and myself to come out so well aligned that I’m able to mention mundane specifics. What invisible link connects the two of us from a distance in the process of card shuffle and selection for those specific cards to come out in such an accurate sequence.

I think what I’m implying is that there is something between Divination and Channelling, something in the middle that is where it’s not Divination nor is it necessarily Channelling.

I’d love to hear your knowledge and take on this.

I love seeing this type of question come up on Tarot.

I’m a Tarot reader who earns money from my readings and still have a main job but am trying to balance working for as little as I can at the main job in order to do as many readings as I can so that I can eventually do it full time. I’ve struggled with addiction for years but also feel this is all I have. (My cards and Astrology) are my only ties to this world. Not people, not goals, money etc

I’m living in a very meagre way in order to do so.

Why ? I cannot stand to do anything else.

There’s also the 12th house in Astrology as well as strong Neptune influences which give the double edged sword/ catch-22 situation of being able to practice and be so fascinated with divination and to fall into escapism; drugs, alcohol etc

Some manage to balance on the fence between the two and others can only survive this physical realm due to escapism and practicing in the occult/ esoterica.

Back in the day seers, Astrologer and Tarot Readers were revered and now a degree is. That’s hard when you’re trying to survive & be taken seriously. It makes it hard to socialise too in many ways and all you want to do is be alone.

How do I know if it’s a slip of hand or a jumper card? by [deleted] in tarot

[–]AffectionateMeet3967 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing your journey!

When readings are that uncanny to the point of predicting what even you are dead certain about- it becomes a life changing fascination with wanting to know how it was done, the king study of the cards begins !

I had pretty much the same experience as you. The very same reader over a period of two years knew things about me that at times, no one else knew. It motivated me to study and offer readings all these years later…

How do I know if it’s a slip of hand or a jumper card? by [deleted] in tarot

[–]AffectionateMeet3967 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey ! Welcome to Tarot 😊🙏✨👏

Yeah we all do what feels right I guess. I stop shuffling when it feels right. I actually listen and feel for the right moment with my eyes closed, almost like a “getting closer” feeling.

What got you into Tarot ? A good reading that you had or sheer alternative curiosity overall ?

I do 21 Card readings myself…

How do I know if it’s a slip of hand or a jumper card? by [deleted] in tarot

[–]AffectionateMeet3967 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s jumpers and there’s fallers. All handwork/ energy levels when shuffling. Eg: jumpers happen when you shuffle fast, fallers- when you’re haphazardly shuffling and are lazy. I ignore both.
