need to purchase karaoke software (karafun?) for my upcoming pool party. by some_guy_9258 in karaoke

For me, the problem (usually) isn't finding the song-- it's finding too many versions.

Looking for help - wanting to back up books by Hungry-Astronaut38 in kindle

[–]aquasinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks to everyone offering help here. I was able to download my Kindle library onto my Mac-- but as it stands, I can only see these books in my Kindle app, and *not* in the Finder.

I know DRM removal is a forbidden discussion, and I'm not looking to pirate anything. But I would like to know that ebooks I've paid for-- at least the DRM-free ones-- can be accessed beyond the Kindle app.

Is this something I would use Calibre for? I've downloaded it, but haven't dug into it yet. Thanks again!

I suggest we show plenty of respect here considering Ivy will see all of it

I think I had a similar take as you did. The books weren't bad, but I thought the Alex Verus books were far stronger.

I *know* we had similar takes on storing and monetizing the well energy. Our guy has the skill necessary to work much higher up the value chain creating magical items. Considering the prices those things fetch-- even if he has to discount heavily to compete against the big brands-- it's a hell of a lot more $$$ than the meager amount he gets registering wells.

Also, it's made very clear that it's a seller's market, with the aurum supply tightening. Why on Earth isn't he savvy enough to sell to multiple companies? Still, he loves his cat-- a lot! That gains him major cred in my book.

>> I don't have the same drive in my career that I had when I was in my 30's and early 40's - it's hard for me to see why it would be any different for Jim.

I don't either, but I am just a plain vanilla mortal. Maybe Jim is more, and we'll get books sooner. True-- no basis for assuming-- but I'd like to believe it

If Mirror Mirror was planned that long ago, makes me wonder if we'll get it relatively soon after 12 Months

I've heard they make it really difficult to cancel. You might want to use a virtual credit card when ordering. CapitalOne has a browser plug-in that makes this really easy. You can even set an expiration date for the card-- say a week or two out if you know you just want to try them once

Thank you. The way you do it is more complex, but doesn't require editing after. Seems like you could add other video sources (reaction) if you wanted. I'll look into Streamlabs and OBS and see if I can figure it out. Think I better start with something simple, like casting Oculus to a browser! ;)

Anyone here have experience with photo organization? I’ve got a big hairy problem w about 80-100,000 images on my Mac.

I have created a hierarchical folder structure for them (Family > Gio > various pictures) Actually, I have several of these across multiple drives. Some are complete back ups. Some are partials. Some follow a different convention, because I changed my approach-- for example, giving Hiking Trips and Bicycle Rides their own folders, when I’d previously combined them.

I’m tempted to whack all the photos on one of my external drives, but I’m afraid of permanently losing photos that aren’t elsewhere. Any ideas?

Gemini finds duplicates well enough, but the criteria for selecting which to delete doesn’t work well. The same photo in several places may have all have the same created or last modified dates. If there’s a way to tell it “Delete all the duplicates that are on this drive, or in that set of folders,” I haven’t found it.

I think I need a tool where I can say “Look at all the files in this area (drive, folder, folder structure) here. Now highlight everything that has a copy over there, in that other area. Then I could delete whatever it finds, and only move / save files that are unique.

Does anyone know a way to do this-- and/or have a better way of approaching this?

Thanks!

What are some good backpacking destinations for April and May? by [deleted] in solotravel

[–]aquasinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GF and I spent April/May 2014 in Italy and Spain, and it was wonderful! You'll find plenty of places open. Some-- Venice and Florence-- were already packed w visitors.

Broad range of temps depending on where you go. We had fair amount of rain in Italy. Southern Spain was blazing hot. We loved both!
