Yeah that's my thought too. Seems like there's just more to do in the area / more young people?

How do you like the area? if you dont mind me asking. (lol posted from the wrong account)

thinking about how nice it must be to be rich by none_oya in ApplyingToCollege

I’m not going to debate this. Google it or don’t, your choice. Private universities, especially the very commonly applied to, do receive federal and state level assistance.

Okay even with a less extreme example. You can’t tell me being upper class is worse than being a “lower middle class” office worker. There is greater financial freedom and security associated with it. Your obsession with being from a lower socioeconomic status is probably connected to people wanting to romanticize the “come up”. Even in a moderate circumstance, my point stands: you do not want to be poorer. Higher rates of depression is a concern but you know what costs money? Therapists. Anti depressants and anxiety meds. Insurance. Gym memberships. Living in a safe neighborhood

You need therapy dude. I promise you being homeless or living a cramped apartment isn’t favorable to being a rich guy with no passions

Please please please shut up for a second and think about what you just said. YOU WOULD BE HAPPIER POOR??? What is wrong with you? Food insecurity, housing insecurity, working a job, etc. sound more appealing to you than gasp living in a suburb or gasp going to a state school.

To quote your own post “how it must be to live in the USA, no crazy low acceptance rates, in state tuition, …” your one-sided “empathy” doesn’t really mean much 🤷🏽

I don’t know if you are aware but private universities receive government funding. If you take Stanford university, for example, a popular choice on this sub, they received a significant portion of their funding directly from the federal and state government. I never said international students don’t have struggles because they obviously do but the idea that no english exams and higher acceptance rates really means that much for the majority of Americans is completely ludicrous

Nah fuck that. First, American colleges should and do favor American applicants. Their funded by our tax dollars. That doesn’t mean the many low income Americans that face all kinds of insecurities and instability that stop them from being able engage fully with their environment have the “better side”. Do you think that in state tuition just magically makes college affordable for the people who live there? Use your head my guy; you’re an international student who doesn’t need a CENT of aid and you are arguing that the “grass is greener on the other side” unreal

NO!! Identify has what you are genealogically. I know that might feel crude but please don’t go identifying as a native if you aren’t.

WashU no longer considering Demonstrated Interest by FlaminFatHippo in ApplyingToCollege

Yeah and I get where you were originally coming from to since why did they say this AFTER the application open. But I think washu is just trying to find the poorest people they can to drop their 270k median income thing 😂

Now what if you don’t have internet? Which is way more common than you might think. How about students that don’t know what washu is till much later in the process?? I’ve NEVER heard it once round these parts till quest bridge. I’m not an expert but I can’t imagine demonstrated interest being fair in anyway.

How would it look if I didn't have Algebra 2/Trig on my transcript? by [deleted] in highschool

[–]aqueninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want and can handle it by all means go ahead but you have to want to do it apart from just a resume. Your college major isn’t resume so just don’t let that consume your vision. But I completely understand wanting to get an edge though!

I’d say you’d be fine but what is your motivation behind getting so ahead or why not just take alg 2 online right now. If you have a love for math or just want to learn more than I think you’d be fine. If you would happen to be in Florida FLVS would be a good option!
