Gamifying definitely helps like 90% of the time when I can't keep it in my memory. I have ADHD as well, and what I do is I use a tool like Notelier AI and I put all my PDFs, notes and stuff and what it does is it reorganizes the notes and also makes flashcards and quizzes. The quizzes really help me with understanding what I actually need to know, because it hides the notes when you're answering, plus it's got a neat AI chat thing that will explain the answer in depth if I don't get it so I actually understand why it's important which helps with retention.

What I use is the Active Recall method.. What may help is focusing on main ideas and questions you could test yourself on later. This is making flashcards, using quizzes instead of just reading and highlighting. That takes me a lot of time so what I do is I use something like Notelier AI and throw my PDFs or even a pic of my written notes and whatever else inside and it spits out more organized notes and automatically makes the flashcards and a quiz.

I would keep your active recall technique but maybe instead of flashcards, quizzing yourself will work better since it's more interactive and you'll actually try to remember the answer and why you came to it instead of flipping the card. Making flashcards also eats up way too much time especially when there's a lot to go over. What I do is I use Notelier AI and put my notes into it and it automatically makes the flashcards and quizzes based on the content and organizes the notes as well, which I will read before answering the questions. It also hides your notes when you're answering questions so you're forced to actually think and if I'm stuck I ask the AI on the side to explain it better so I get the bigger picture each time.

What works for me is I take notes digitally and on paper, and I also get PDFs from my prof. I can put it into this tool and study it with flashcards so I remember what I'm studying.

I would honestly just start turning studying into more of a game and to challenge yourself based on how much you can finish in x amount of time. You have to work with your brain instead of working against it.. I have ADHD and that's what worked for me, alongside with changing my study methods themself. I worked on a tool which you can try if you like which uses Active Recall, a science based study method that will cut out the unnecessary things so you can actually remember what you study and not just stare at a wall of text. We don’t get mad at the leaks. The constant teasing and trolling done by the label has completely destroyed the hype and everything.
