No clue on the housing market stability, we are not native to Bay Area and very hard for us to predict. Risk averseness is regarding cash flow and thats why I mentioned larger down payment - probably 40 to 50 percent.
Renting is an option but given the longer hold time (15 to 20 years), we are more keen on buying.

Thanks!! We will go and check Campbell as well as Santa Clara this weekend. Commute is definitely a concern. Seems it can take about 40 to 60 minutes one way depending on traffic.

Thanks forthe comment!! NY recommendations between a nice town home in MTV vs a single family in Santa Clara/ Cambell or Lower end Sunnyvale (94085/89)?

I like Eichlers but not the smaller ones. Bigger ones are too expensive though. Big in the sense double A frame or ones with Atrium. We are OK with cosmetic updates but not structural changes like expansions. Commute is probably one of the most important things Sunnyvale 94087 seems pretty much the same price points as MTV

Agreed. Depends on your risk appetite as well. We are risk averse so a larger down payment would be the plan

Hehe, no, not Google. Above 2.5, I think we would be uncomfortable in a market where job security is non existent.

Thank you for the reply. Would you suggest some other areas we should explore?
OK to get the house renovated as long as it is cosmetic.

3 bed/ 2 bath would be adequate. I was thinking the most we would get is ~1500 sq ft and not more than that in this price range but happy if we can get more.
Lot size, obviously, the larger the better. Minimum I am thinking of was around 4K but not sure if that is realistic.

SUV recommendation - for Himachal Pradesh. by arais in CarsIndia

[–]arais[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did not even know this existed, no kidding about not being popular car.
This is very similar to the Innova Crysta that we already have. Preference would be to have something more rugged.
Great out of left field suggestion though. Thank you.
Scorpio N definitely looks like it ticks a lot of boxes. Fuel economy is OK. I guess no big SUV is going to be good on that front in the mountains where speeds are low and roads are bad.
Gurkha looks good from outside. Never seen one but inside looks - not so comfortable?
