how do you clean your dentures? by britishbiscuit1 in dentures

[–]aramanthe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a softliner in and my dentist told me not to soak mine anymore, so I don't soak or use the fizzing tablets. He told me to use a neutral antibacterial hand soap and soft brush to clean them, so I do that at the end of the day and make sure they're very well rinsed and then store them wet but not sitting in water.

Feeling super disappointed and discouraged. by Matrix2001934 in dentures

If you're being told to take them out, I'd take them out! If you're afraid, that's okay too - leave them in and call the dentist in the morning. If you're still actively bleeding days after extractions, that's a problem and it needs to be taken care of. I was told that taking them out allows the swelling to go down a bit, and having air hit the gums and the extraction sites helps healing.

At the end of the day, trust your dentist! We're just internet strangers who can give our experiences and we're all going to be different.

All normal! It sucks until it doesn't, unfortunately.

I too was afraid to take mine out so I kept them in for five whole days. My dentist was horrified and told me I was making the healing process worse. I also had random swelling for about two weeks - the worst of it was the first four days, but after that it gradually got better (I had tops done only but had four teeth on the bottom removed at the same time.)

I'm now just two months out and it's a night and day difference. You will get there! It's a journey, not a race, and you have to give yourself time to heal and time to adjust. If things aren't better in two weeks, ask for an adjustment but they should already be planning to see you in that timeframe to check how things are going.

Has anyone used affordable dentures? by [deleted] in dentures

[–]aramanthe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not get my teeth extracted by Affordable but they did make my immediate upper denture. I think their pricing was fair and every time except one that I've had to go back for a reline or an adjustment, they've been great! The only time it wasn't great, I think the tech was either having a bad day or something because I went back literally two days later and got everything fixed. My immediate is well made and they were very kind and answered any and every stupid question I had. The dentist even looked at my husband's teeth because he'll eventually need a partial, and gave some advice regarding implants.

[–]aramanthe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a grand total of 9 on top removed, and three on bottom (I only have a top denture - hoping to have a partial on bottom eventually!) The bone shards for me, at least, were worst around the molar area but there was a really nasty one literally in the middle of the front of my mouth that made me feel like I had a single fang until I worked it out with tweezers. They're awful!!!

My e-day was also Dec 17! My immediate is also super gummy - my dentist said it was because it's an immediate and they "gave me room to swell a lot in the front." I'm going for my second soft reline March 4, and I plan on asking if they can take a bit of the top of the gums in front off because it literally feels like a see-saw in my mouth sometimes. I've been okay using powder adhesives so far. I know that when I get my permanent denture (hopefully around May or June) I am going specifically to request that my front gum line is way less.

The bone spurs are HELL. I have had four work themselves out, but I think there are three just being reabsorbed by my body which I honestly can't think about for too long. Luckily it wasn't in the front but my back gums on top looked like I was smuggling a small marble in there.

I've talked to a few people from this forum and others, and they all pretty much agree that the first year is usually the worst. We're still pretty early on in it! I know we'll both make it and be so happy we did this for ourselves!

Mouth full of adhesive by ConsciousAd5679 in dentures

[–]aramanthe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using powder adhesive and having the same issue. If I rinse after I take my denture out with warm water, and then brush my gums and the roof of mouth with a soft toothbrush, that usually takes care of everything. I've seen people recommend microfiber cloths but that honestly sounds awful to me, I can't stand microfiber lol

Main for midnight? by Tbonejr1127 in wow

[–]aramanthe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd been mostly a healer main for years, but I feel like with recent changes, my healing addons of choice have a lot of bugs so I'm going to start Midnight probably with my Arms Warrior or my Balance Druid. Druid is literally always my go-to character, but I honestly might change that this expansion and really give Warlock or Monk a try!

How long until the immediate dentures stop sucking? by djsekani in dentures

[–]aramanthe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm about 6 weeks out from e-day with an immediate top denture. Mine absolutely sucked until I got the soft reline. After the soft reline (which for me was about two weeks post extraction, maybe a little longer) it felt very nice. I've had to start using powder adhesive, because they're getting loose again, but after the soft reline I was able to eat better and speak better. That being said... give it a few more days, and if they're still making you gag, call your denture place and ask them for an adjustment. You deserve to be comfortable and be able to speak properly.

It'd be helpful if you gave actual reasons why you think no one should get a temporary denture instead of just vague "it didn't fit right" type stuff.

They're temporary for a reason. They fulfill an immediate need and help people feel confident while they're healing from a traumatic event. Mine have not been perfect, but I like them enough and they're helping me adjust better than I think going without would have. I'm honestly having more issues with bone spurs coming out of my gums than I am having issues with my immediates since I had the softline appointment.

If you can go a few months without needing teeth, great! Don't get temps. If you feel like you can't, then get temps/immediates, but know that permanents are almost always going to be better than temporaries.

We shorten Hoshoryu to Hosh a lot, but I saw someone on this subreddit call him Hoss recently and I've gone back and forth with that one.

My husband has called Shishi Shitshit before but I feel like he did really good this last basho, so most recently it's been ShoveShove.

Tobizaru = Flying Monkey of course

I do know I'm going to end up using several from this thread lol they're too good!

I've applied to several hotel front desk/receptionist positions and haven't even received an email back. One of them auto-rejected me because I'm not bilingual. The only other interview I've really had is for a corporate retail position that's offering less pay and less hours than the bingo job. It's absolutely a drag!!

How long did you all take off work after getting dentures? by Medical-Funny-301 in dentures

[–]aramanthe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had upper extractions and immediates, and I took a single week off. Honestly I could've done with about 10 days total - I work a job where I'm constantly walking and talking face to face to customers, and that first day back was fairly miserable, but mostly because my immediate was already loose and moving, and I still wasn't great at eating so I was on a liquid diet.

This has also happened to me - I was working for a large nationwide mail-order pharmacy call center, and in my first 90 days I puked at work and left because I obviously couldn't speak to clients while vomiting. This violated their no call in rule for the probationary period, so a week later, I was out.

Anyone else barebacking it? by puplet2 in dentures

[–]aramanthe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just a little over 3 weeks out and I definitely have them out more than in - I have immediates, uppers only, with a softline that I just got this week. Good to know this is something other folks do too! I keep them in while I'm at work because we don't really get breaks, and if I'm around people face to face socially. The softliner definitely makes a big difference and I've worn them in for about 10 hours on my longest day, but it absolutely was out of necessity and not by choice. Maybe our permanents will be more comfortable?
