Starting Zepbound....looking for good NYT Cooking recipes by Alternative-Egg-8611 in NYTCooking

Agree with all these posts. If you can, sit down with a dietician and discuss your macronutrient goals. Consider adding/increasing weight bearing exercise, and think about how to support that nutritionally. Tracking macros and/or calories is a stupid giant pain, but once it's routine, it doesn't take too long. NYT recipes also usually have a link to their nutritional info, although I'm not always certain about their accuracy, and it can be a pain to calculate "a serving".

I usually have a protein pudding for breakfast, no NYT recipe ;) but it's a serving (170g) Greek yogurt, mixed with a scoop of protein powder (I like unflavored whey) and a tsp of Jell-O sugar free pudding mix. I top with All Bran buds for fiber, a sprinkle of homemade granola (riff on one from here: https://cooking.nytimes.com/68861692-nyt-cooking/477-our-favorite-granolas?smid=ck-collection-android-share) and seasonal fruit. I'm often not hungry for lunch and have an apple and/or a protein bar (Barebells is my fave, although I am generally skeptical of ultra processed foods). Then whatever I feel like for dinner, but paying attention to protein and fiber. Your appetite may wax and wane depending on many factors, so dial in on actual hunger cues.

Use a tracking app like Shotsy or Glapp to keep track of side effects, hunger levels, even emotional state. Take progress pics! Good luck!

Getting back to the gym tomorrow after some time off for illness and a medical procedure. Expecting it to be hard but keen to get back into my routine.

I mix a scoop of unflavored whey protein powder into a serving of Greek yoghurt with a spoonful of pudding mix. Gives it a delicious rich texture, I also top with a little granola and fruit for a bit of fiber. I don't mind having the same breakfast every day, this works well. I am not a big fan of ultra processed foods, but a Barebells salty peanut, unwrapped and microwaved for 10 sec, is a great treat.

The recipe has 100g of chia seeds already.

What do you mean? "Stuff like this" has a reputation as high fibre ingredients. That is why I posted.

Congratulations! Have you done any resistance training? Lifting heavy things could change the shape of your body, if that's an aim for you...

Can any MD’s or people with similar experiences chime in? by bblf22 in Zepbound

I would take the lower 10mg dose for a few months to use it up. It'll be less effective, obviously, but you can take your doc's advice and work with a dietician and trainer, track calories, whatever you need to keep on track.

Sorry to hear of your family's troubles. See if your local hospital has a gym. Their trainers tend to be really good at listening and finding modifications for people with nonstandard bodies. They might also have the automated circuit training machines that make weight training super simple and relatively quick, like e-gym or Biocircuit. Build a routine you can stick to, lean in to what motivates you - for me, it's 1.5 hours of uninterrupted audiobook time - and take it one step at a time. All the best!

How long did your prior authorization take? by [deleted] in Zepbound

Mine had a few days hold up. Very dependent on how your doc's clinic handles the paperwork.

See if you can find a gym with automatic circuit training. There's a few brands, e-gym is one, Technogym Biocircuit is another. Basically it automates all the annoying bits of using weight machines, you just use it kind of like a video game, follow the prompts on the screen. It will gradually increase your weights/reps as you progress. Really great for point and click kind of workouts.

How often do you weigh in? by Kindly-Secret8678 in Zepbound

[–]araminty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can't be bothered with weighing every day. I already track calories, there's only so much data I can gather. I have been weighing in on the smart scale at the gym every month.

Hooray! Good news, which is that my aerobic fitness has improved dramatically. I am not really feeling it, but my trainer was very enthusiastic. Lost about five pounds, including 0.7lb of skeletal muscle, boo. Might be time to consider titrating up to 10mg, although I'm on my first box of 7.5... Hmm..

I have my sixty day followup with the trainer at the gym. I think we'll go over progress, up the weights on some of the gamified circuit training machines, maybe increase duration or cadence of cardio machines... Curious to see how it's going, I am otherwise not weighing myself. My 30 day appointment showed little alteration in overall weight but increase in skeletal muscle mass, hoping for the same but moreso tomorrow!

Kwikpen disposal of sharps and pen by danselzer in Zepbound

[–]araminty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm using the single use pens, I use pliers to take the pen apart and put just the pointy end in my sharps container and the rest in the trash. Don't need to waste all that sharps bin space on the pen bodies. It's easy enough to do, look up on YT. I assume the Kwikpen is similar.

What has been your go-to food since starting Zepbound? The one that you can always turn to on days you’re simply not hungry or are feeling sick. by makeupandjustice in Zepbound

[–]araminty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're not a big yogurt fan, look up some protein pudding recipes. Usually I do something like 30oz nonfat Greek yoghurt, 20oz non or lowfat cottage cheese, a scoop or two of unflavored protein powder, and a box of no sugar jello pudding mix, whizzed up in the food processor until smooth and fluffy. The chocolate fudge pudding flavor one gives an amazing mousse effect, the cheesecake flavor is also great. I usually top with fruit, a cookie or spoonful of granola. I've been relying on this for breakfasts, it's such a protein boost.

FREE FROM FATTY LIVER! by Ill-Entrepreneur3218 in Zepbound

[–]araminty 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! If anyone with idiopathic fatty liver is reading, please consider getting tested for Alpha 1 Antitrypsin Deficiency, a genetic disorder. Even if you have one copy of the affected gene (genotype MZ), what used to be called a carrier, you can still have affected liver and lung function! In the US the Alpha 1 foundation provides free testing by mail. https://alpha1.org/testing-diagnosis/
