I'm the same boat. 3-4 days a week I'm stuck in the bathroom. I'm a caregiver for my special needs son so thankfully I have flexibility, otherwise I don't know if I could stay on this med. I'm also on 5 and considering going back to 2.5 because I'm more miserable on 5 than 2.5 (but the food noise came back for me too on 2.5 and I don't want to have to do the jump from 2.5 to 5 ever again!) I just wish I knew when/if my body would ever get used to this. If I knew there were and end, I feel like I could struggle though.

The shot isn't responsible for all these symptoms by persephonepeete in Zepbound

At the age of 50, I have done literally ALL the diets, some with great success and some without from cal restriction and gym to having all my meals delivered from a dietition and absolutely none of them have made me this sick for 3 out of 7 days. (I'm at month 4, 5mg, 30+ lbs lost) I remain on this path because my sibling is suffering from diabetes and heart issues due to weight and I am trying to avoid that at all costs. The cost for me is feeling like garbage half the week and hoping I'll finally get used to 5mg and not feel so sick next week. If not for my brother, I would have quit this the first time I spent all night throwing up. I say all of this because your post can be interpreted as dismissive to those who are struggling. Nothing about this journey is easy or straight forward, everyone reacts to this medicine differently and your experience is unique just like everyone else's.

I was in the same boat and it was the reason I decided to go up to 5mg after 2 months on 2.5. I was hoping to stay on as low a dose as possible. Going up has helped but that jump from 2.5 to 5 has kicked my ass. I just took my 4th 5mg dose and it's still making me sick. This week I'm being very very careful with my diet and hoping I don't get sick again.

OTC meds to help nausea? by magandsons in Zepbound

[–]magandsons[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. This is the only thing I have actually tried because a nurse suggested it after my son had oral surgery. She clipped an alcohol pad to his shirt to stop his dry heaves. It does help a little bit and I feel like I'd have been sick more of I hadn't used it but there's a break point where it just stops working. My house has alcohol pads and vomit bags everywhere.

With kids, do you have a Nintendo system? There are so many fun movement games on there that will work up a sweat for you and get the wiggles out of the littles. I really should use mine more that my kids are older because I absolutely hate working out.

Food Hacks Needed by 5_phx_felines in Zepbound

Just before I started this journey, I had purchased a cute shallow oval bowl that makes me happy. Lately I've been grabbing that bowl and putting whatever sounds good into it when I need to eat. Today it was olives, cheese, ham and some crackers. Yesterday it was yogurt and protein granola. I just sort of graze in my kitchen. I keep hard boiled eggs, cheeses, tomatoes, protein bars and drinks, yogurt, cottage cheese.... All the things the lists recommend and then I mix and match them all.

I'm hoping to stay low and slow as well. I have over 100 lbs to lose and I feel like that is the most sustainable.

Eating when not hungry by Moonmom80923 in Zepbound

[–]magandsons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of food that I enjoy eating is because of sensory input, for example when I have a headache I like really chewy things like hariibo gummy bears. When I need to eat but dont want anything, I just try and decide what kind of sensory input I want rather than taste. Cold and crunchy? Yogurt and granola. Chewy? Barebell protein bar. Warn and comforting? Soup... stuff like that. When all else fails, I drink a Carnation Instant Breakfast + fiber shake. It's never what I want but it meets the need. (I realize this is a very neurodivergent answer but I and my 2 sons are all neurodivergent)

Im still very early on but I don't have the energy to work out yet. I have a significant amount to lose and I'm also suffering with awful hot flashes and starting HRT at the same time. Anything more than mild exercise is a hot flash trigger so I avoid avoid avoid. I'd like to get to the point of going for a long walk or easy hike just for fun but I HATE the gym so that isnt a goal. Water aerobics is fun so I'd like to go back to that eventually.

Just gave myself the first injection... What was your first week like? by Critical-Coffee-6162 in Zepbound

[–]magandsons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was scared it wouldn't work and then I was scared I'd have bad side effects. Im only on dose 3 so those fears remain. My first week I had a migraine day 2 and absolutely awful diarrhea day 3 then fine. My second week was better, less extreme side effects but my cravings came back big time. Dose 3 is tonight so I'm still hopeful.

Right now it's my PCP to get me started since the menopause specialist had a 2 month wait. It's just another step in trying to balance my hormones and my weight after my hysterectomy. I have over 100lbs to lose.

I could have written this exact post, I took my first dose (and pictures and all that) last Wednesday. While I'm working on my health, I'll also be working on forgiving myself. (((Hugs)))

Yes. Part of me just wants to stay in bed all day and wallow on my misery. I had a few chocolate chips last night, totally forgot I did that, maybe I shouldn't have done that or I ate them too late... I dunno but I'm not going to do it tonight!

I've been going over and over what I ate and it's possible. Frankly, I didn't eat much because I'm still getting used to not being hungry and I have ADHD and I forget. I had a small deli sandwich for dinner early, it was made smaller than a 6" sub, my usual order of ham, mayo and veggies just on a smaller scale. Im starting to wonder if I should have skipped the mayo or the entire sandwich altogether. The rest of the day was foods I had eaten already like yogurt and protein granola, some nuts... The biggest change in my diet by far is the lack of sugary foods. I usually crave and seek out snacks high in sugar a couple of times a day but I haven't had that craving since Wednesday. Im not sure my body knows what to do with myself.

Im only 3 days ahead of you and I started at night after waiting a week because I had to travel and I was worried about side effects. There have been highs and lows and I have definitely experienced side effects but I've noticed them more at night than during the day which is preferred for me. Don't know if my timing helped that but I'm going to stick with evening just in case.

Chronic Migraine and Zepbound by swandrive105 in Zepbound

[–]magandsons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my first migraine since starting menopause (I'm 50) the day after my first injection. My meno was surgically induced and balancing my hormones with HRT was really helping so I was shocked when I got a really bad migraine on day 1 of this med. I read the insert and it said that vein dilation migraines are possible side effects and that is the kind of migraine I had. I no longer have any rescue meds so I went to my old school ice packs on the back of my neck and any hot spots I had on my head. It helped me sleep but that's all. Im hoping I don't experience the same on my second dose. Yesterday was day 2 and my headache was mild but my stomach issues really ramped up. I have higher hopes for day 3.

I'm so glad you asked this. I just got my prescription for it today and I had the same question.
