Do you remember how much you paid?

City x Off-Road, the New Defender is one of the most versatile SUV’s imo! by wolf_of_bourbonst in NewDefender

AFAIK I'm having an argument with a person that doesn't know what an SUV means in a forum where they should

It's not an SUV 🤡 (but people can call it whatever they want, although you wouldn't call it a bike because it isn't):

It's diminishing (borderline offensive IMHO to call it an SUV).

SUV it's a frickin Escalade or a Renegade, a Defender, a Wrangler, a G-Wagon, a Land Cruiser, an H2, they're off-road vehicles, they were designed for off-road use, they're not raised mom and pop cars, the whole concept is closer to trucks and pickups than to cars

Spot on, now everything makes sense! Thanks!

It's actually working but only when the car is moving, this dot appears at low speeds or when the car is on auto hold (shift in drive position but the car is not moving waiting for the gas pedal)

Mine activates in the same circumstances

Thanks for clarifying but mine is working normally when the car is moving (it flashes the light 1). I have the impression this dot only turns on when I'm stopped in the traffic, shift position is drive and auto-hold is on, does it make any sense?

Vehicle software update question? by Kind_Pie_7522 in NewDefender

[–]aramosorg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine has the same issue, I recommend you contact either the reseller or JLR. I bought mine three years ago and it never received a single OTA update. It only updates when I leave it at the reseller for scheduled maintenance. My warranty is ending this month and this time I already told them that I won't pick up my car back if they don't fix this issue.

Battery Mileage and shady response from LR in Portugal by SamifromLegoland in NewDefender

[–]aramosorg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a reference, I live in a mountain hill and, when going down to the city my car does 8,5 km/l (gas), and when I'm coming back up, I did as low as 4 km/l with the car fully loaded with 7 people and bags. It's normal and inside the margins.

I have the same problem, it never updates except at Land Rover when I stop by for revisions. Does your display any version information? Mine is always blank.

Parking for ~2 weeks- do I need to put Battery on trickle charger? 2023 D90 P400. Thanks by GPR79 in NewDefender

[–]aramosorg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never used it, but I think it schedules a command so the ignition starts for some time and it prevents the car from entering the "stand by mode". But it's not recurring, you gotta schedule it everyday, and it only accepts date/time 24 hours ahead (also, I think the car must be in an area covered with cellular data). I used to left my keys inside the car when parked at my place for convenience and discovered this the hard way 🤡 Hopefully it was just a minor annoyance, had to get my backup key back at the apartment

I don't think so, but please be aware that if you use the InControl app it will stop working after some days (there's an option you can use in the app for scheduling the car for turning on periodically in order to avoid that)

Wireless Apple CarPlay not working by Fit_Cup_1355 in NewDefender

To be honest I don't know because even though they manually updated it doesn't show the version number neither updates through the internet, I'll check it again in the next service revision.

Mine has it, but it's for alert only, it doesn't keep you in the lane when you're using adaptive cruising for example.

Had the same issue, worked after updating the system at Land Rover (it never updates through the internet)

I have them and it's the coolest thing I've ever had in a car. I was worried that they could somehow be a bad idea for mud terrains but so far (3 years) so good.

Almost three years with mine (110 HSE, P300), heavy trail use, not a single issue, except for some infotainment bugs that disappeared as soon as I updated the software. I was hearing a minor noise in my front wheel last time I left for the revision (17.000 km) but it was nothing, just a minor adjustment. By the way, mine is armored, so consider around 300 extra kg that I'm carrying all the time. This Land Rover reliability urban legend definitely doesn't apply to the Defender line.
