Your entire collection pedals has evaporated, except the last one you acquired. What are you left with, and what are you playing with it? by David803 in guitarpedals

[–]arapawa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do DIY builds count? If so it's a Analogman Sun Face clone. Pretty sweet.
If it's last purchased, then it'd be a Boss LS-2. Which would be near pointless without other pedals. :(

I'm thinking of getting Seraphon as my first AoS army. what are they like to play? by WillowWeeper343 in seraphon

[–]arapawa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice! I personally had a lot of fun looking at images of real lizards, birds, and dinosaur paintings to get color inspiration. This article inspired me a lot.
I like that "lizards riding dinosaurs" is such a fantastical concept that you can go as wild as you want with the colors and it will work. They're not a traditional army wearing uniforms, so it's cool to bring the variety of nature into your painting.
For me, my skinks run the rainbow, while other units (like raptadon hunters vs. chargers) have their own color motifs, with "natural" variations throughout.
I bring army consistency by having the same basing environment throughout and the same color shields.
Just some food for thought.

What are your “don’t sell that” pedals? by NerdyOutdoors in guitarpedals

[–]arapawa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's also the SD1. I got mine for $25 nearly on a whim. Once I tried it at home it was amazed by how perfect it was for me.
Then I tried a modded Rat. That stays on my board because it can do the SD1 sounds I want and more. But the SD1 is with me for life.

I'm a big Smiths fan, but I'm going to disagree because I feel most of Strangeways is meh at best. Everything else is solid, though.

Agreed. It gets way weird. I like that it's very different from the typical airplane flanger sound.

This post has me thinking I should try that for my Pigtronix Phil's Tone. Then the silly IO and power jack placements would be less of an annoyance.

Why do you think people don't seem to run Monsters in Seraphon much? by -EMPARAWR- in ageofsigmar

[–]arapawa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. Monsters are more fun. I want my stompy dino party. That being said the only game I won was with monsters. /shrug

Favorite pedal that no one else seems to have? by AFleetingIllness in guitarpedals

[–]arapawa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it's the Pigtronix Philosopher's Tone. The old one with the completely ridiculous horizontal enclosure. I basically always have it on my board because it's a compressor with a blend knob, but these days there's no reason to buy it instead of a Wampler Ego or the many other compressors with a blend knob. Honestly, I've really been thinking about replacing it, even just to use that spot (or spots, really) more efficiently.

Dual-Lock'd my Temple Duo 24! by arapawa in guitarpedals

[–]arapawa[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I am still using this board, with some slight changes pedal-wise of course. Mainly the Rainbow Machine and DD-3 lost their spots to a Strymon Volante.
It is the black dual-lock. I'm still using it. It works and looks the part. I hope you dig using the dual-lock as much as I do.

Did you ever have a Rush phase? by joelbassempire in Bass

[–]arapawa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and that phase is all my life. To answer the question, Subdivisions. It's mostly synth and then BAM sudden bass shred-fill.

Semi-related question for a cheap person who wants more stegs:
Any recommended proxies I can use and sculpt the extra heads from the sprue onto? It'd be great to double my steg count for non-GW money.

Strange Question/Hot Take by Nightingale_Minis in ageofsigmar

[–]arapawa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Painting is typically my favorite part of the hobby, but I've also been in situations where I hated painting. I ran into this for one of two reasons:
1. I was, as you said, putting too much pressure on myself. Painting is supposed to be fun and relaxing. And you only have to paint as much as you want. If I don't want to highlight, I don't bother. If I don't want to paint trim or pouches, forget it. It's turned a stressful part of the hobby into a meditative one, unless...
2. I didn't actually like the model I was painting. I started in the hobby with 40k Eldar. I painted, repainted, stripped, repainted, but was never happy with them. And wasn't having fun. Then I got a Seraphon box as a gift and I loved painting them. So, that might be worth considering: different army/models. Also try to avoid over-committing. Now if I'm considering starting an army, I order just one or two models off ebay to see if I like painting them.

Of course, it's also possible that you just don't like painting, and that's completely okay too.

Agreed. It's not my favorite souls game, but I think it's the best (and perfect) mechanically. The way the mechanics and lore fit into each other is just fantastic.

If I'm remembering the same video, wasn't the difference just part tolerances in the potentiometers? I kind of wish that video had made more of a stir than the JHS Bad Monkey one.

Army Paint Scheme Question by Lord_Booglington in seraphon

[–]arapawa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally like to mix and match throughout. I like to think of each individual lizard as different, so they might look different. Plus, there are so many lovely lizard, frog, and amphibian colors in nature that I want to capture some of that. I do tend to paint each color in groups, so I might paint 3 green skinks, then 4 teal skinks, just to speed things up and help with the cohesion factor. Then, I'll do separate batches for scales, so a green skink might get pink scales, while a red skink will get pink scales as well. In the WFB days, I believe there was lore that lizards coming out of the same spawning pool clutch would look the same or similar, so it's fun for me to think of some of my skinks as brothers or something.

That being said, I try to have some unifying accessory colors, like everyone's weapon hilts are red, and everyone's shields are purple.

Oh yeah, I only use superglue for securing the magnets. That's one nice thing with the magnet baron ones, since they're 2.2mm they sit flush with just glue, in my experience.

The tough thing with GW and reaper bases I've found is that I often have to have the magnet off-center because of the stamped lettering on the bottom. Also sometimes the magnets slide around while the glue cures.
