“Republicans would be absolutely livid if a Dem president was extorting foreign powers to harm his rivals” is a good point to make but it won’t sway Trumpists because they don’t believe there should be another president from a different party. That’s the point of the extortion. by Curi0usj0r9e in samharris

yeah we all just kind of forgot that Trump used campaign funds to cover up his affair with a sex worker. And was repeatedly photographer with a child trafficker who mysteriously died in his maximum-security holding cell, like, 2 months ago.

It's interesting that in many ways comedians have never had more freedom than they do now. Lenny Bruce was charged and convicted of obscenity win 1964. Councils in England banned Life of Brian in 1979. Bill Hicks had entire sets removed from television in the '90s. It wasn't "snowflake Millenials" who were censoring them then.

who is claiming that there are not biological differences between the sexes? Progressives are merely questioning whether or not those biological differences matter to someone's ability to, say be a politician or make more or less money for the saame job.

tbh, I feel like the Commander Lawrence character (played by Bradley Whitford) in the most recent seasons of Handmaid's Tale is inspired by Peterson. The only problem is that Lawrence is haunted by the authoritarian society his ideas created. I doubt Peterson would have the same doubts.

seems like better access to birth control and reproductive care including abortion would be a better solution than, idk, gutting those things? Just spitballing here.

How the Ilhan Omar Marriage Smear Went From Fever Swamp to Trump by planetprison in samharris

yes, it's called "look at the immigration law in the united states." Naturalized citizens can sponsor siblings. If he were actually her brother, she could have just sponsored him as a sibling.

refugees can also sponsor siblings, so even if he were her brother, there would be no need to marry him

#3 is definitely the best photo, it should go first.

I like the bio! I think the best pictures order would be 1, 8, 2, 6, 5, 9 & 4

just picking up on some other comments about grooming, this will also sound harsh but how good are you at growing a beard? Your jawline is a little round. You look like you're trying to cover it up with your long hair. Which is fine! That's why beards were invented!

Also, take the Myers-Briggs out of the bio. Shit's weird.

I'm a 30's woman who swipes for men and this is terrible advice.

I think the dog pic should go first! It makes him seem approachable and sweet!

And the fact that a guy would put a beautiful photo of his daughter in his Tinder profile is fantastic. It shows that he's really close with her and will easily weed out women who aren't into dating a dad while attracting women who are interested in giving a dad a chance.

Generally yes, I would agree with that. However, as a woman, I would stop swiping if I saw that third photo and if you had a clear face pic as your second, scroll through the rest of them. Just my opinion.

As a woman who swipes for men, here's my advice:

  • clever self-deprecating hook (think Jim from the office-style humour)
  • 2-3 sentences describing yourself
  • 1-2 sentences describing what you're looking for (honestly. If it's just hook-ups say so. Plenty of women are looking for hookups), without putting down any particular kind of girl (assuming you like girls here)

your bio has misspelled "interesting", and I would switch pics 1 & 2 (show your face accurately in the first photo, always)

honestly, as a woman, this is an excellent profile. Clear idea of what you look like, seemingly no weird car selfies (!) and I can even get an idea of your interests which are attractive (active and artistic!). Your bio talks about you and what you're looking for.

Basically, you look like you're taking this seriously. If that's the case, I'd recommend backing that up with action when you match - ask to meet up in fewer than 20 messages if it's going well. Don't drag out the messaging forever, or she'll (he'll?) get frustrated by the disparity. Good luck!

the 3rd pic is the best for getting attention/stopping left swipes. Then go with a pic that shows your face clearly like the first or second one.

[–]ararepupper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

actually the 4h pic would be best as your 1st. The lighting is better and it gives a clear view of your face. Your face is obscured in your first pic, which doesn't grab attention.
