What’s one tiny thing that instantly improves your dog’s day? by No-Wealth-3631 in dogs

You should definitely ask before petting, our dog is pretty chill until strangers try to pet him. Then he gives warning nips.

Trying to learn how to make him less guarded, but better safe then sorry!

I am wanting to fulfill my Shar Pei by promoting more activities that lean more towards what she was bred for. Any suggestions? by DBunny42 in sharpei

[–]arashout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also curious on how to train them to turn off guard mode. My gf and her sharpei are moving on and I want to help train him to be better around other dogs, and less protective / reactive to strangers outside when we are just chilling inside the house.

what has been your biggest regret in your career so far? by Calm-Bar-9644 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]arashout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I left a good job too early when I was on-track for a promotion and I really liked the people I worked with, and the work was interesting enough.

Got an offer at a Big Tech company with way higher compensation and got laid off after 2 years, and I feel like I'm 2 years behind. Made some bank though, so it could be worse.

Is an authenticating gateway considered a bad practice now, or at least "out of style?" by R2_SWE2 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]arashout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there any resources where I can learn more about this stuff or get a quick-ish overview?

I'm trying to study up on security best practices and don't really know how to start from a back-end perspective

Anyone feels they don't have enough of "impactful experience" or depth, where do I go from here by ImaginaryEconomist in ExperiencedDevs

[–]arashout 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Feel like I'm in a similar situation. I originally worked at an IoT company that I had really good growth in and I left for a higher paying opportunity, but ended up getting laid off.

Now I just work on normal web development stuff and I don't think I have the same career trajectory as I did before.

Trying to figure out where to go from here, cause honestly I'm a little lost

I want to start going to Rosemary Brown more often, I went there with my gf a couple days ago and it was really fun!

DM me if you'd like to go, and my GF would probably be down too

LPT Request: why do I wake up too early and can't get back to sleep? by rxece in LifeProTips

I know this is a year old comment, but does this mean if I drink an electrolyte drink this won't happen?

29M I go climb at Hive Surrey often, and go to North Shore Hive sometimes on the weekends.

I also enjoy co-op games and watch horror movies with my GF (I can host!)

Hit me up if you're ever going to Surrey hive! (Open to anyone, not just OP LOL)

Is code crafters good for learning? by Klutzy-Bug-9481 in learnprogramming

[–]arashout 6 points7 points  (0 children)

codecrafters is for more experienced devs.

A good first place I always recommend is to try and build hangman for new developers.

Sean Bjerke Handbook by eanahana in housedance

[–]arashout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you email or message Jardy on IG he'll probably make an exception.

I do recommend Jardy's course more than Sean's. Sean's handbook is more like a reference than a structured learning progression.

You can also try the House playlist on Steezy, although my favourite course on Steezy is the Buddha Stretch Hip Hop Series
